Adverbs with the ‘ly’ suffix An adverb can describe a verb (a doing word) and tells you how something is happening or being done. Liam tiptoed up the staircase carefully. there. Write the opening of a story that takes place here. (You can write a whole story if you like. I would love to read it!)Use lots of adjectives and expanded noun phrases to describe the setting of where the story takes places. Remember to use a comma in between two adjectives e.g. Underneath the twisted, gnarled vines of the redwood tree, were the once colourful seats of a merry go round that had been forgotten about by everyone in the land.

Challenge: Can you include an adverb to describe how something is happening? E.g. Liam pulled back the vines cautiously and was thrilled to see the switches and controls that would bring the merry go round to life!

Everyday Maths

Recognising Coins Ask a grown up if you can look at some real coins, or use the sheet in your pack. Can you recognise the different amounts? Look at the shapes and patterns on each coin to help you remember them. You could;

Use paper and crayons to do coin rubbings Make pretend money and set up a shop or café in your house for people to come and buy things from you Think about how many of one coin would be equal to another amount e.g. how many 2p coins would be equal to

Research record breaking plants. What can you find out? What is the strangest new learning you can find?Here are some ideas to research;

You can choose how to present your information, or you can create a game of Plant Top Trumps using the activity in your pack.

Art / D.T Paint, draw or create a miniature model in your own garden, a map of the curious garden that Liam found on the train tracks. You can use the images of secret gardens to help you.

Challenge: You could even create a map of the secret, over grown fair ground that you have written about in your English!
