Student Registration for our 2015 Seminole Success Night is open! During the spring semester, the Career Center and the Center for Leadership & Social Change holds its annual “Seminole Success Night: A Celebration of Diversity and Leadership” networking event. This event provides a unique opportunity for students of diverse backgrounds to network and build relationships with corporate companies and organizations who are actively seeking these populations. SPRING 2015 RSO EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM The RSO Executive Leadership Program is designed to equip emerging student leaders with the skills and resources needed to build student organizations that are successful, sustainable, and impactful at FSU. This workshop series is designed to help up-and-coming leaders within RSOs hone their leadership skills and learn how to run a successful RSO at FSU. This non-credit certificate program will be held once a week and will cover a range of topics including personal leadership development, peer mentorship, effective communication, collaboration and campus resources, and more! Students must apply and be accepted to take part in the program. Applications are due December 12 and space is limited. Use this form to nominate a student (or a few) that you think could benefit from this program and the Student Activities Center will send them an application! WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION Enjoy a day of American Indian culture, music, astronomy, and fun at Mission San Luis! Come observe the occasion of the "sun standing" at its southernmost position in the sky and honor the heritage of this 17th century living history village. During the day, shop for holiday gifts and support artisans selling their fine crafts, join a drum circle, or enjoy flute and drumming in concert. There will also be children's make-and-take crafts, primitive weapon activities, presentations by speakers and storytellers, food vendors, and more. In the evening, view the pre-solstice stars and planets with telescopes provided by the Tallahassee Astronomical Society. The Celebration will take place on Sunday, December 14. ABILITY 1ST RAMP BUILDING PROJECT DATES Ability 1st is looking for student organizations or groups of 8 to 10 volunteers to build ramps on Saturday, December 13. Dates can be held for groups until they have a chance to get with folks and see if you’d be able to have the 8 to 10 volunteers needed for a typical, average-sized ramp project.

GLOBAL AMBASSADORS PROGRAM The FSU Center For Global Engagement's Global Ambassadors Program (GAP) connects international students, scholars, and faculty with organizations and classes at FSU. There are participants from all over the world who are interested in talking about their home countries and cultures with your members. FESTIVE FAMILY PHOTO CONTEST

The City of Tallahassee is hosting the Festive Family Photo Contest; a contest that rewards families for capturing their best holiday moments. No matter how posed your family’s photo is, they welcome them all. Bring on the ugly sweaters, uncooperative moments and fur-babies. Photos of your family at the upcoming Winter Festival and Elf Night are strongly encouraged. REPORT CARD RALLY In an effort to encourage the students of Leon County Schools in grade Kindergarten through 12th grade, the Report Card Rally has been organized to give businesses an opportunity to reward students with a gift of product or service for their achievements. The Rally will also require volunteer staff for duties such as: checking report cards for straight “A” students, encouraging students, handing out gift bags, passing out planners, managing the drawings for Wild Adventures tickets and other prizes, keeping the showroom floor free of debris, helping with setting up tables, helping with breaking down tables, passing out balloons, handing out magazines, and other unexpected fun duties as they arise. MENTOR NEEDED A grandmother is looking for a mentor for her 16 year-old grandson, who will be attending the Florida Youth Challenge Academy. His Residential Phase will be from January until June. During this phase, the teen and his mentor will write weekly and the mentor will need to go to Starke for training. The mentor can pick from three dates for the training and can visit multiple times. During the Follow-up Phase, the mentor and the teen will do community service projects and meet monthly to help him stay on track. This mentor needs to be male and over the age of 25. ARABIC OUTREACH PROGRAM

The Arabic Division of the Department of Modern Languages has an outreach program to elementary and middle schools in the Tallahassee area. This program aims to educate students about the diverse peoples and cultures of the Middle East and North Africa through fun and engaging activities. Students will be encouraged to think about residents of the various regions as fellow humans who lead lives similar to their own. The program is set in the afterschool environment for the elementary level and takes place during the school day for middle school. Volunteers are required to be available for an entire semester; be available for an average of one to two hours per week; be able to work semi-independently in a confident and professional manner; have some knowledge or commitment to learn about the Middle East/North Africa; and have at least one skill relevant to the tasks described above. MARKET DAYS The Tallahassee Museum is hosting Market Days on December 6 and December 7 at the North Florida Fair Grounds. The event welcomes people from all over the country and sees about 10,000 people total, sometimes more. Market Days is seeking volunteers to administer a short survey to guests. They need approximately 10 volunteers per shift: Shift 1: Saturday, December 6 from 8:00am – 12:00pm; Shift 2: Saturday, December 6 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm; and Shift 3: Sunday, December 7 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. UNITED AGAINST INEQUITIES DISEASES

United Against Inequities in Diseases (UAID) is excited to announce the 2015 UAID Symposium on Health Inequities! UAID will be taking over Miami for the weekend of January 16-18, 2015, and they want to see you there. The itinerary includes workshops by businesspeople, activists, politicians, researchers, and other people who fight health inequities every day from every angle. In addition to their line-up of speakers, you can look forward to an Ebola Epidemic Simulation, real life case studies in health inequities, and an Innovative Social Change Competition with a cash prize for the winners!
