The Spirit of the Lord hath filled the whole world, Alleluia : and that which containeth all things hath knowledge of the voice, Alleluia. Let God arise and let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate Him flee before him.

¶Entrance HymnLove Divine, all loves excelling

Hymnal: 408

+In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with you.And with thy spirit.

Almighty God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Lord Jesus Christ said: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.Lord have mercy upon us, and write all these Thy laws in our hearts, we beseech Thee.

¶Collect for Pentecost

God, who as at this time didst teach the hearts of thy faithful people, by the sending to the them the light of thy Holy Spirit: Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgement in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our savior, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

¶Old Testament Lesson

Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn. And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the Lord thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the Lord thy God, according as the Lord thy God hath blessed thee: And thou

shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there. And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.

Deut. 16:9-12¶Gradual Psalm

I was glad when they said unto me: We will go into the House of the Lord.

Our feet shall stand in thy gates: (-)O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is built as a city that is at unity in itself: for thither the tribes go up even the tribes of the Lord * to testify unto Israel to give thanks unto the Name of the Lord.

For there is the seat of judgement: even the seat of the House of David. O pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Peace by within thy walls: and plenteousness within thy palaces.

For my brethren and companion’s sakes: I will wish thee prosperity.

Yea because of the House of the Lord our God: I will seek to do thee good.

Psalm 122

¶New Testament Lesson

When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they

Page 6: Web viewKyrie Eleison Lord, have mercy. ... He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me

were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

¶The Gospel The Lord be with you.And with thy spirit.A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. Glory be to thee, O Lord.

Page 7: Web viewKyrie Eleison Lord, have mercy. ... He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me

Jesus said unto his disciples, If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.

John 14:15-31aThis is the Gospel of the Lord.Praise be to thee, O Christ.

Page 10: Web viewKyrie Eleison Lord, have mercy. ... He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me

The Priest invites the people to confess their sins, meekly kneeling:

Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, maker of all things, judge of all men: we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we, from time to time, most grievously have committed, by thought, word and deed, against thy divine majesty, provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us; the burden of them is intolerable. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; for thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, forgive us all that is past; and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee in newness of life, to the honour and glory of thy name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Priest pronounces the Absolution to which all respond: Amen.
