Pictures on the 10 facts about the

Amazon Rainforest

Animal #1: Howler monkey

Howlers have prehensile tails which allows them to hang from trees and they do not have to travel to the ground offend.

The cacophonous cries they make send a clear message to other monkeys, telling them a territory is occupied and if there is any danger.

An example of communalism symbiosis in the rainforest is the howler monkey and insects. The insects eat bugs and pieces of food off the howler monkeys back and do not bother the monkeys.

Plant #1: Heliconia

Collects water in their stems, which provides habitat for many tiny aquatic organisms

This plant mocks “Lobster claws” or “parrot flowers” and they are multicolored so some animals won’t eat them. Plant #2: Kapok Tree

The branches of this tree are large and many plants and animals grow, nest and use the huge branches as highways.

The seeds, leaves, bark, and resin have been used to treat dysentery, fever, and asthma and kidney disease.

The bees build their hives inside of the Kapok tree. The Kapok Tree has flowers on them and the bees and bats pollinate them. This is mutualism because both species are benefiting.

Animal #2: Toucan

Their bills are seen as a mating trait for both sexes.

Their bright colors provide good camouflage in the rainforest canopy.
