Course DescriptionThis challenging, literature-based course prepares students for the rigors of AP courses, while simultaneously satisfying their required English CP credits. Students will practice reading, writing, language, speaking, and listening. The purpose of the tenth grade curriculum is to continue the development of students’ foundation in English, challenge their ability to think critically, and improve their ability to communicate both oral and written ideas precisely.

Grading Policy Grades are based on the total points earned for a

grading period.

90% - 100%    A80% - 89%      B70% - 79%      C60% - 69%      DBelow 60%. F

At Dozier-Libbey, we believe you should achieve an acceptable level of proficiency in all classes.  Earning a D does not meet this standard.  You may retake tests and redo assignments with scores below 70%.  The highest grade you may receive on a retake or redo is 70%.  You will have approximately one week to retake a test or redo an assignment.

Late work will not be accepted for a grade.  I understand that sometimes emergencies arise so you will receive one Code Blue a quarter.  This allows you to turn in an assignment the next day the class meets and still receive full credit.

You will do your own work!  Those who cheat will receive a zero on the assignment and parents will be contacted.  This includes those who give their work to other students to copy.
