There are three categories. If an EC type examination is required, this is performed by an accredited test institute and if necessary the product is marked with the four-digit identi-fication number of the relevant institute:

Category ICategory I includes exclusively the following minimal risks such as super-ficial mechanical injury, contact with

cleaning materials of weak action or prolonged contact with water, contact with hot surfaces not exceeding 50°C, damage to the eyes due to ex-posure to sunlight (other than during observation

EN 420 – General requirements for glovesThis standard specifies the

general requirements for all protective gloves and the test methods to be used, as well as the general requirements for design principles, glove packaging and resistance of the glove material to water penetration, innocuousness, comfort and performance, as well as the manufacturer’s marking and information provided.

EN 455 – Medical examination glovesThis pictogram indicates that the gloves

marked are suiable as medical examination gloves. It fulfills EN 455 1-4 which includes:

• EN 455-1:2000: Requirements and tests for leaks (according to AQL)

Latex is the milk-like sap from the rubber tree (Hevea Brasiliensis). It is tapped from the tree and is refined into a

pure latex liquid form via a complex centrifugal process. Because of its polymere structure and its high elasticity,

this is the best material for manufacturing medical gloves. Latex gloves are comfortable, flexible, tear-resistant and

guarantee a good grip. They provide the best protection against microorganisms like viruses, bacteria etc.

All Sänger disposable examination gloves made of latex are a natural product, ambidextrous, thiuram-free, have

a low protein content <10 µg/g (Modified Lowry Test, TÜV Rheinland) and a beaded cuff edge.

Disposable Examination Gloves Nitrile and Vinyl, non-sterile

VinylPolyvinylchlorid (PVC), more commonly know as Vinyl, is a thermoplastic polymer. In order to make Vinyl usable for gloves and other products, it is mixed with plasticizers. It does not contain any Latex proteins. Vinyl is cheap to manu-facture, but the decision for a Vinyl glove should be taken with care.
