Volunteers are the heart of Water Street Studios.We encourage thosewho are interested in assistinginstructors,staffingthegalleryandhelpingoutduringspecialeventstojoinus.
EducationWater Street Studios offers a community-based artseducation program geared towards children, teens,adultsandseniorcitizens-frombeginnerstoexperts.It isourphilosophythateveryonefrompreschoolerstoseniorscanuseartintheirlives.
All classes are staffed by professional and workingartistsandoperateonatrimesterschedule.Therangeofclasschoicesincludes:
AwesomeArtAfternoons, a free family art program,takes place each Sunday as a way to invite youngandoldtoWaterStreettoadmireamazingartinthegallery, be creative and spend quality timewith theonesyoulove.Inaddition,WaterStreetStudiosholdsworkshops by local and visiting artists. Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelley Foundation's mission of land conservation and artistic vitality for communities in the Chicago region and theLowcountry of South Carolina honors the values and legacy of our founders by focusing on two of the conditions crucial to vital humancommunities: a healthy natural environment and artistic expression.
The arts are vulnerable to changing societal priorities as well as controversies about their value and their characteristics of excellence. Thefoundation seeks to sustain communities by supporting long-term partnerships that bring together people from diverse backgrounds whovalue and nurture its mission. We call upon our history, community connections, and experience to be an active participant and innovatoron these issues.
Our strategy is to support and promote artistic vitality through organizations that create excellent and innovative art, develop newprofessional-level talent, nurture professional arts, and develop new audiences.
