Last Time Vs. UCLAAP (3/3/12) - Lazeric Jones scored 20 points, twicehitting go-ahead baskets in the final 8:39, and UCLAdefeated Washington 75-69 on Saturday to preventhe Huskies from clinching the Pac-12 regular-seasotitle outright. Travis Wear had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Tyler Lamb added 14 points for the Bruins (18-13, 11-7), who were picked to win the leagutitle but have stumbled through a disappointing season. C.J. Wilcox scored 22 points and Terrence Rosadded 14 for the Huskies (21-9, 14-4).

Last Time Out: UW 96, ASU 92 (2/2)AP - Aziz NDiaye converted a three-point play off aoffensive rebound with 34 seconds left, Andrew Andrews led Washington with 20 points off the bencand the Huskies held off Arizona State 96-92 on Saturday night despite 32 points from Sun Devils freshman Jahii Carson. The duo of NDiaye and ShawnKemp Jr. dominated the interior for Washington (139, 5-4 Pac-12), but no rebound or basket was biggethan NDiaye tapping Scott Suggs miss to keep thplay alive and scoring while being fouled by Jorda

Bachynski. The 45 percent free-throw shooter theconverted the three-point play. C.J. Wilcox addea pair of free throws after Carrick Felix missed 3-pointer, but Carson hit a 3-pointer for Arizona State(17-4, 6-3) and Washington committed a turnover othe inbound with 13 seconds left. Carson drove to thrim but his shot was altered by NDiaye and came ushort. Wilcox added two more free throws to clincthe victory that snapped Washingtons four-game losing streak.

Odd But True Tidbits For the first time in UWs history they lost fourstraight league games after winning the previou

four contests. They have done the streak in reversbefore, winning five-straight Pac-10 games in 2004after starting with five-straight losses. The Huskies game vs. No. 8 Arizona was its firsagainst a ranked opponent since 12/22/09 vs. #23Texas A&M. The Dawgs came into the Utah game allowing Pac12 opponents to shoot .374 from the field. The Uteshot 60.4%, the highest FG% vs. the Huskies sinceArizona shot 65.3% on Jan. 4, 2007. The Huskies started Conference play 4-0 for the2nd time in Lorenzo Romars 11 seasons - also 201- and just the 4th times in the last 35 years. The Huskies went down to the Bay Area and earnetheir first road sweep of Cal and Stanford since 1985That year they went on to win a share of the Pac-10championship. Since Washingtons first season in 1896, this yeamarked the sixth time that UW opened conferencplay with three road games (1911, 1912, 1943, 199and 1999) and the first times since 1912 they onlwon all three.

    2012-13 Husky Basketball

a2012-13 Washington Mens Basketball Husky Notes

UW Leads Division I With Most All-Time Wins At Their Home ArenaWashington has

929 wins inside of Hec Edmundson Pavilion, the most by any Division I team at its cur-

rent home arena. The Huskies started playing in their arena on Dec. 27, 1927 and have amassed 100 morevictories than No. 2 on the list, Pennsylvania.

Friendly Confines Of HomeLosing at Alaska Airlines Arena in Hec Edmundson Pavilion is rare under coach Lorenzo Romars watch. In11 years with Romar at the helm, UW is 155-33 (.824) overall at home, 82-9 (.901) in non-conferencegames.UW was 18-2 at home in 2012, the 5th time under Romar that they have reached at least 17 winsat home. The Huskies have won 15+ at home 18 times overall, but only two other times in the last 60 yearsoutside the Romar era.The Huskies won a school record 32 straight non-conference games at Alaska AirlinesArena, dating back to a 72-71 home loss on March 14, 2008 in the College Basketball Invitational to Val-paraiso, before South Dakota State beat them on Dec. 18, 2011.

Nate Rob Joins Pac-12 Hall Of HonorNate Robinson is the 2012-13 Washington representa-tive in the Pac-12 Conference Mens Basketball Hall

of Honor. The induction will occur on Saturday, March16, during a ceremony prior to the championship Gameat the 2013 Pac-12 Mens Basketball Tournament heldat the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.Robinson ranks 23rd on the UWs all-time scoring listwith 1,283 points (14.4 ppg) despite playing just threeyears. He also ranks in UWs top-five career list forsteals. He helped UW to its most successful seasonever that saw them earn its first No. 1 NCAA see.

Point-Less StatThe Huskies are averaging 69.9 points per game thisyear, the lowest total during Lorenzo Romars 11 sea-sons at Washington. The Huskies have led the Pac-12

in scoring in five of the last eight seasons, but are 8thin the Conference this season. The last time UW aver-aged less than 70 points per season was 2001 whenthey scored 67.6 points per game. The previous lowduring Romars tenure was 73.2 ppg in 2008. Con-versely, they are allowing 67.3 ppg, the Huskies lowestaverage allowed since 65.1 in 1990.

Injury ReportUW is full strength with all 10 scholarship players fi-nally healthy, but for the first 10 games at least oneplayer was out of each game. Shawn Kemp missedthe first 7 games due to a knee injury (losses to Albany,Ohio State and Colorado State during that span). ScottSuggs played only 2 minutes vs. Albany after suffer-ing a concussion, leaving the Huskies shorthandedand missed 3 games with a sprained right foot (loss toColorado St). Andrew Andrews missed 3 games witha sprained ankle (loss vs. Nevada).

Player of the Week HonorsC.J. Wilcox was named Pac-12 Player of the Week onfor the week of Jan. 7-13 after averaging 23.0 points,8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in the Huskiesfirst Bay Area sweep since 1984. Wilcox shot 53.1%from the field, including 50% from 3-point range. Hescored 27 points and grabbed a career high 9 rebounds

vs. Stanford on the way to winning his 2nd careerweekly honor. It was the Huskies 46th player of theweek selection all-time and 27th in Lorenzo Romars11 seasons.

Three-Point ProwessThe Huskies have a pair of long-range bombers thatare assaulting the Huskies record books. C.J. Wilcoxis steadily climbing the UW three-point charts and isup to third all-time in UW history with 191. Next up isDeon Luton with 212. Scott Suggs is on the all-timelist too and has 121 to move up to 9th. When it comesto accuracy, Wilcox is tied for 7th in UW history mak-ing 40.2% of his career attempts. Suggs is tied for 8thall-time in UW history at 39.8%.

    Reverse Trend in Rebounding

Washington has finished first in the conference in re-bounding four-straight years, six of the last eight andhas finished first or second in each of the last eightseasons. If they are going to continue that trend, theHuskies are going to have to hit the glass in monumen-tal proportions. So far this season, they are 10th in thePac-12 in rebounding with 35.9 per game, which cur-rently represents their lowest average since 2004. Thebiggest culprit in the reverse trend is that UW is last inthe league with 23.1 defensive rebounds per game andthey are only grabbing 67.1% of the rebounds whenthe other team is on offense.

Wilcox Diversifying His GameEveryone knows C.J. Wilcox can shoot from the out-side. Entering the season, statistically speaking, it waseasy to tell he prefered to fire away from outside the3-point line. Entering the year, 56% of his field goalmakes came from behind the 3-point arc, while 61%of his FG attempts were 3-pointers. He has diversifiedhis game this year, according to the stats. So far in hisjunior season, of Wilcoxs field goal makes, just 37.6%have come from beyond 3-point range and 42.0% ofhis attempts are 3-pointers. Despite moving closer tothe rim, his scoring average has gone up and so hashis field goal percentage. He is 44.8% this year afterentering the season as a 43% career shooter.

Who Are These Guys?THREE-HEADED MONSTER: The Huskies back-court is one of the strengths of the squad. The Hus-kies have talent, size and experience at the position

thanks in large part to the trio of senior captainsAbdul Gaddy and Scott Suggs and junior C.J. Wil-cox. Gaddy is the Pac-12s leading active player inassists, Wilcox was honorable mention All-Pac-12and ranks third in UW history in 3-point makes, andSuggs, a 41% career 3-point shooter, returns from abroken foot that cost him all of last season.

TheDakar, Senegal native was a member of the Pac-12All-Defensive Team as a junior and is up to 5th all-time on the UW list for career blocks. The career 57%shooter scored was the teams top rebounder grab-bing 7.3 per game. NDiaye, the third player to stand

7-feet or taller in the Romar era, is especially rejuve-nated this season after spending part of the summerin his native Senegal with his teammates and family.

THE REDSHIRTS:Jernard Jarreau and AndrewAndrews finally make their debuts after sitting out2011-12 as redshirts. Both will be counted on to con-tribute right away after spending a year learning Ro-mars system, putting on weight (Jarreau has gained25 pounds since stepping on campus) and developingtheir games. Andrews will be counted on for big min-utes off the bench to spell the guards, while Jarreauis the fifth starter.

a2012-13 Washington Mens Basketball Husky Notes

The 6-foot-4 guard showed his shooting prowess on the trip but hasbeen slowed this fall with a stress fracture in his foot.Dion Overstreet joined the team after contacting thecoaching staff expressing his interest to join the team. The 5-9 guard averaged double-digit points at EdmondsCC.

    Noteworthy

    High Post Offense

Washington installed a half-court high-post offense this year and has been working on the newsystem since the summer. Luckily for the Huskiesthey had 10 extra practices to prepare for their sum-mer foreign tour. Lorenzo Romar learned the high-post offense while an assistant under Jim Harrick aUCLA and has implemented the style at his previouscoaching stops of Pepperdine and Saint Louis. TheHuskies will still run the floor at every opportunityas evidenced by their 85 points scored in the seasonopener vs. Loyola.

Huskies Are NBA ReadyUW has developed a reputation for sending playersto the NBA during Lorenzo Romars first 10 seasonsas head coach. Last year, UW was the only Pac-12school with multiple players selected and for the firsttime ever saw two players selected in the 1st round(Terence Ross, 8th to Toronto and Tony Wroten 25th to

Memphis). A total of 6 Huskies have been selected asfirst round picks under Romars tenure to equal UCLAfor the most among Pac-12 schools. Eight Huskies wereon NBA rosters at the start of the year: Will Conroy(T-Wolves/cut), Spencer Hawes (76ers), QuincyPondexter (Memphis), Nate Robinson (Chicago),Terrence Ross (Toronto), Brandon Roy (T-Wolves),Isaiah Thomas (Kings) and Tony Wroten (Memphis).

World TravelersThe Huskies embarked on a two-week trip this summerto Europe and Africa that saw them visit Barcelona,Spain; Nice France; Monaco; Paris, France; and Dakar,Senegal. During their foreign tour, the Huskies playedsix games and went 3-3 against professional teams.Scott Suggs and Abdul Gaddy led the team with 13.5ppg, while C.J. Wilcox was third with 13.2 ppg. Butmore importantly, the team had many experiences thatwill stay with them for their entire lives. While on thetrip, the team saw such sites as the Eiffel Tower, TheLouvre, the Princes Palace in Monaco, Fraggonard Per-fume Factory; Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell and the 1992Olympic sites in Barcelona, Spain. They wrapped up

their trip with three days in Dakar, Senegal.

    Dawgs Visit Africa

The Huskies capped their foreign tour this summer byspending three day in Dakar, Senegal. While in Africa, the team had a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Dakar, the capital of Senegal, is home to senior Aziz NDiaye. He returned home for the first time in two years andserved as host, ambassador and translator during thetrip. The team started their Africa leg with a visit tothe Bandia Animal Reserve, followed by a stop at theSEEDS Academy, where NDiaye got his basketballstart. NDiaye led the Huskies as they ran a clinic forthe younger members of the academy. The next daythe team joined NDiaye on a visit to his home where

they saw the home in which NDiaye grew up. His momcooked NDiayes favorite meal -- fish and rice -- forthe whole team. Later that evening the Huskies werescheduled to play Dakar University, but a severe rain-storm flooded the court and made the venue unplay-able. On the final day, the team visited Goree Island, aslave-trading post that served as the last stop for mil-lions of African slaves before they were shipped off toEurope and the Americas.

Sons Of SonicsShawn Kemp Jr. is not the first Husky player to comefrom NBA lineage -- specifically sons of Seattle Sonics.Through the years, four other Huskies had dads that
