Warwick in Schools(WinS) – what is it?

• Scheme for students with three key aims:

1. To enable students to gain academic credit through IE3E[1,2,3]

2. To encourage highly qualified undergraduates to consider a career in teaching

3. To raise the aspirations of learners in school

School placement

• Placement allocation: organised according to your availability and school placement offers

• Transport: make your own arrangements wherever possible, you are responsible for covering the cost of this.

• If necessary we may be able to help arrange transport to more distant schools, in which case you will be expected to pay at least £5 per day towards the cost. Journeys to some schools could cost £70 for the 10 day placement.

WinS – How is it linked to Warwick in Africa?

• WinS students can apply for a place on our Warwick in Africa teaching Project

• WinS students are often placed in schools with high levels of social deprivation in Coventry and surrounding counties for their teaching experience.

In 2015• 64 students taught in Africa this summer:

42 in SA, 12 in Tanzania and 10 in Ghana (English and Maths)

• 17 teachers delivered CPD training to teachers in Ghana and South Africa

• 3 more teachers came to Warwick from S. Africa and 4 from Ghana at the end of September for the CPD Study and training course
