Officials of the Wakad police station have
appealed to the people to approach them
at the newly inaugurated police station near
Capital Towers on Wakad Road, around 300
metres from Dange Chowk.
The new police station was inaugurated
on Monday, August 15 by Guardian Minister
Girish Bapat.
Wakad, Thergoan, Tathwade, Punawale,
Kalewadi, Rahatani and Jagtap Dairy areas
come under the jurisdiction of the Wakad
police station. The beginning of Rahatani and
Thergoan Police Chowkis are under planning.
The new Wakad Police Station was
approved by the Home Ministry and
Maharashtra State Government in 2014.
After the approval, the Wakad Police Station
was activated on August 31, 2014 by dividing
Sangvi Police Station and Hinjewadi police
stations. Earlier, the old Wakad police station
was operating from Wakad Octroi post chowk.
Various projects like Crime & Criminal
Tracking Network & System (CCTNS) and
CCTV surveillance system room could not
be started due to insufficient space.
Police officials said that more than 500
cases are registered at the police station on
an annual basis and the number of crimes
in Wakad, Pimpri and Nigdi is almost equal.
Senior Police Officer Noormohammad
Shaikh said, “The central place of Wakad
Police Station will be convenient for all
residential societies and citizens. Now,
residents need not go to Hinjewadi to
register complaints. The Wakad Police is
available to serve the people and the people
should also cooperate with them.

The boxes with cross symbols were drawn
before the construction of the Wakad
Nashik Phata BRTS road, due to widening
of the road for parking purposes. Now,
after the construction of the BRTS road,
they still have not been removed by the
officials. However, no parking boards have
been installed at the same place, which is
confusing the commuters.
The Wakad Nashik Phata BRTS road
is a major transportation road in Pimple
Saudagar. Earlier, boxes with cross symbols
were drawn for parking. But after the
changes in the parking lane rule, it was
decided that the marked boxes were not for
parking. ‘No parking’ signboards have also
been installed for the information of the
commuters.
Bapu Gaikwad, PCMC Deputy Engineer BRTS said, “Before the
construction, the Wakad Nashik Phata BRTS
road was wide. Due to the wide size of road,
parking boxes were marked on the road.
Now, the BRTS road is constructed but the
marked places of parking remain as it is.
However, they are not for parking. The paint
used to make those boxes is permanent
and cannot be removed. It can now only be
removed during road tarring.”
Malojirao Patil, Senior Police Inspector Traffic Division said, “The
improper parking marks are causing much
inconvenience to commuters. Several
times we have informed the concerned
department regarding removal of parking
marks but no any action is taken yet.
Commuters are getting confused due to it.”
Local Corporator Shatrughna Kate said, “A few days ago, the symbol was
removed across Pimple Saudagar. I will
instruct the concerned officials to work on
the remaining parts for the convenience of
the commuters. Proper ‘No parking’ boards
will be installed at such places.”
Local Corporator Sheetal Vitthal Kate said, “If parking is allowed where
boxes are made, it will be helpful to decrease
the load of parking. We are planning to use
both lane boxes of Wakad Nashik Phata
BRTS road for the parking purpose. But
first, we have to discuss with the Pimpri
Chinchwad Municipal Corporation officials
along with the traffic officials. Earlier, boxes
were made for parking purposes.”
Nitin Kondhalkar, Chairman, Tushar Residency, Pimple Saudagar said, “If
there is no parking, then paint marks
should be removed immediately. The no
parking board and below there is a parking
box, which is too confusing.”
Vishal Mundada, a resident of Rahatani said, “Due to the marking and
the signboards, I always get confused. If
there is no parking, then the mark should
be removed.”
The improper parking marks are causing much inconvenience to commuters. Several times we have informed the concerned department regarding removal of white stripes but no any action is taken yet. Commuters are getting confused while parking.
