An Introduction to Metalrax Group Plc.

Samuel Groves, the creators of Mermaid have been established in the West Midlands since 1826 and are now part of one of the largest manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of bakeware in the UK. Mermaid bakeware has been an essential part of the kitchen since 1953.

George Wilkinson International based in Burnley, is the largest member in the Consumer Durables division and now occupies an enviable niche, providing high quality bakeware products, with outstanding levels of customer service to discerning retailers and distributors in the UK. At the core of George Wilkinson’s manufacturing operation is the energy-efficient coil-coating production process enabling the creation of superior bakeware that delivers impressive performance over a long life cycle.

Seasoning Hard anodised products will benefit from seasoning. To do this, put a generous layer of inexpensive cooking oil in the base of the tray or dish. Place in a hot oven (approx 200◦C) for about 10 – 15 minutes and then allow to cool. Remove from the oven and dispose of the oil carefully. The bakeware should then be hand washed in warm soapy water, rinsed and dried.

Care Instructions Never put hard anodised products into a dishwasher as the caustic nature of the detergent will damage the baking pan. Hand wash only. If stubborn stains persist, simply soak in warm soapy water and use a nylon scourer to remove any residue. Avoid the use of any caustic cleaning solutions. Metal utensils can be used. Never plunge a hot pan into cold water as extremes of temperature can cause distortion, and always use oven gloves to remove pans from the oven. Acidic foodstuffs may mark the product if it is left in the pan for any length of time. Ensure that your bakeware is clean and dry before storing. Oven safe to 240°c/475°F/Gas Mark 9. Remove any labels from the product and wash in warm soapy water before use. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.

Do not bake at more than 240C, 465F, gas mark 9. Do not place the product over direct heat, gas flame or electric radiant elements. Do not use in a microwave. When baking, always pastry line the tin when using fruit fillings. Where possible, allow baking to cool for a few minutes before turning out. If any burnt on food is left on the tin, soak in hot, soapy water for a few minutes before cleaning. To clean, rinse in warm water, wipe with a cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not use metal scourers or abrasives. Use wood, plastic or silicone kitchen utensils only. Do not cut or slice food on the tin. Tin will become hot in use, oven gloves recommended.
