5. Maintain a database of volunteer workers and hours of work; prepare and present reports to management staff; recommend necessary changes or adjustments to the volunteer program.

6. Establish positive working relationships with staff members and volunteers; reconcile personnel problems.

7. Work with staff to create volunteer job descriptions; prepare and maintain volunteer procedural and training manuals and materials.

8. Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of volunteer services.

9. Schedule and coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation events.

10. Manage and participate in the goals, objectives, and policies effecting volunteers.

11. NOTE: Catholic Charities considers this position to be a mandated reporter of child abuse.

Other Responsibilities 1. Attend meetings and conferences, and report back at the request of the

Division Director.

2. Participate in fund-raising activities.

3. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required 1. College degree preferred.

2. Experience (one year minimum) as a volunteer required.

3. Knowledge of the role played by volunteers in a non-profit setting, along with the legal aspects of a volunteer program.

4. Working knowledge of computers, including word processing, required. (MS Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.)

5. Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.

6. Ability to develop recruitment and selection procedures and to interview for effective selection of volunteer candidates.

7. Ability to supervise, motivate, train and monitor performance of volunteers.

8. Ability to make effective presentations.

9. Ability to communicate in a friendly and informative manner with people from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles.

10. Ability to work independently and possess strong time management skills.

11. Ability to identify program needs.

12. Strong organizational ability; attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to attend to detail and manage substantial load of paperwork.

13. Ability to work with others at community, parish/church and agency level.

14. Bilingual (Spanish/English) helpful.

15. Valid California driver's license and legally required insurance (a minimum).

16. Must successfully pass fingerprinting check prior to start of employment.

17. Appreciation of the role of a church-affiliated agency in the human service field.

Physical Requirements 1. Requires ability to sit up to 6-8 hours per day with intermittent occasional

walking, standing, bending, squatting and climbing.

2. Occasionally may be required to lift items up to 10 pounds to a height up to 6 feet and 11-40 pounds to a height of 3 feet.

3. Occasionally may be required to carry items up to 40 pounds for distances up to 25 feet.
