Vol. 29 Issue 7 - October 11, 2016 Foundations: The Gathering Gathering together as a people of God is more than just going to church on Sunday. God has called us together to rest in His presence and worship His majesty. Jesus told us that “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” Mark 2:27 God rested on the seventh day of creation, and so, we take time each week to rest in His presence and worship His majesty. If you are interested in worshipping our loving God and hearing more about Jesus, or being a part of a Life Group at St. John’s, find out more here. Prayer for our school! Chapel and Devotion This Week’s Chapel Scripture Foundations: The Gathering Mark 2:23-28 Chapel Offering Chapel offerings for the month of October will go to the Compton Initiative. St. John’s Lutheran Church is actively involved with this ministry. If you would like to participate in this ministry follow the link: http://www.stjohnsorange.org/share/compton-initiative/. Join us for chapel every Wednesday at 8:30 am in the St. John’s sanctuary! Family Devotional This week’s devotional centers on family, relationships, and the challenge of setting boundaries in your life, drawn from the Boundaries book series by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. Boundaries ITBS / CogAT Standardized Testing All Students in grades 1-8 will be taking the ITBS/CogAT standardized tests over the next 2 weeks.
