Vendôme Intermodal Hub – Transitional Measures

• Objectives

– Reduce the impact of projected ridership growth;

– Improve the flow of traffic in the metro and train stations;

– Facilitate pedestrian traffic to the MUHC;

– Implement measures to ensure the rapid evacuation of facilities and

expedite emergency responses in the Vendôme hub, as required.

1) Demolish a floor slab to build a new staircase;

2) Build new stairs (4 flights), from the fare booth mezzanine to the pedestrian walkway, and install exit turnstiles;

3) Reposition existing turnstiles;

4) Demolish the existing staircase to build a new one leading to the AMT corridor;

5) Demolish a storage room to make room for the 2nd corridor and install gates and fire doors.

• Scope of AMT Work – Train Station Tunnel



Relocation of equipment

• Scope of AMT Work – Path

New path between de Maisonneuve Blvd. and the train station

• Mitigation Measures

– Work will be phased to ensure customer traffic flow and safety

– STM work will be performed mainly at night

– Work to extend the train station tunnel to the MUHC will be performed starting from the south

– Path work will have no impact on customers

– Relocation of the 102 bus stop to the bus loop

– Opportunity analysis underway to assess the relevance of improving the public transit network to address the service needs of customers with functional limitations from the metro


• Next Steps

– Short Term – Transitional Measures:

• Work in the existing station entrance until June 2015 (2 phases)

• Fare vending machine and path work: until March 2015

• Tunnel work: until February/March 2015

– Medium Term – Permanent Solution:

• Confirmation of government funding for the permanent solution

• Implementation of permanent solution

– This work is funded by the ministère des Transports du Québec and

Mobility Montréal.
