Shanty Town Interface there are many different type of Interface that are used in any form of gaming or even using the internet to look at web pages in web browser games the interface is important to create the game as the game needs commands from another computer the one in which it was designed for to know what to display once it is completed and used by other computers to be displayed on to display the correct interface the Shanty town game Interface will be a web based game, and the interface will be mostly from the computer itself as it provides the information needed to show the content on the screen but also the web browser needs the information from the computer to display the messages for twine if I want to display a picture on the browser I need to tell the web that I want to display the picture on the web browser for the person to see when they come to play the game with this command it will show the picture online even though this is not an image that will be used in the final piece it demonstrates that using the commands to tell the interface of the computer and web to display the message in which I have commanded to be shown on the screen. the way that Interface works is that the two in which one who gives the commands and the other displays the message into the screen it must be correct otherwise the interface that displays the message will not recognize the command and will show a error sign to say that it either doesn’t work or understand what was sent to it.

As this task is that we command what the web interface displays we can make sure that if any little features that might help people to cheat by using the back button or restarting the question. with me being the only person who can write the commands and control what the web browser displays these situations can be resolved by me and only me which is the benefit of programming to the interface and using the interface of controlling the com-mands means I can change anything at anytime without it changing anything onscreen while this happens.

If I want to add anything that I don’t want to add the screen such as music that hides in the background and plays without it showing itself on screen is also something you can com-mand the interface to do than this is the command that I can use

Navigation Structure

In most games the player needs instructions into how they can move around the screen and how they now how to move to the next screen or try to use the commands to help them advance to the next stage of the game within the Twine game the player must use the mouse and click on the link to move to the next stage within Twine there are more than one way to highlight the option for the player to use

with most online games the way the they are structured are for the player to use the mouse and navigate their own way around the game using the knowledge and controls to make sure they complete the game and also make the controls simple for the player to use and under-stand when to use them during the game the navigation of any game must be clear and understandable to the player so it doesn’t become to complicated using the structure of my game I don’t want to many decisions or make sure that the player can follow the game clearly

looking at other type of Twine Games online the way the games are structured and most make sure that the colour of the text do not cross match with the background or hard to

find. the story lines are very easy to understand and follow a nice flowing pattern of text speech and then a interaction in which you are meant to choose a out-come in which the next outcome will be displayed on the screen.

With this in mind I need to make sure that looking at other type of twine games that I don’t create a struc-

ture that is to hard to read and understand if the storyline is to hard to follow and the con-trols are easy to see with the links being highlighted in blue the person can easily see the links to the next passage on the black background once the person has the mouse over the blue text they click on the link it will take them onto the next passage were it could be either mean the story continues on or it can mean the end of the person game and will have restart the game over again.

Screen Layout

With most games you need the screen to look like it’s got a lot of detail and also not be minimal as it not seem appealing to the player if it’s got only a couple of lines with no pic-tures to make it look more better and also give the player something to look at when they

are playing. and with some of the images they are the next passage. using variable inter-actions can create a more interesting game to play for the player but also it gives variation into a very basic game. which is key to keep the player interested in the game looking at examples of Twine games online the various things that happen that keep the player inter-ested.

looking at the screen I have it is very basic with not much dialogue but using this I can add pictures and music to make the page better to view and also give the player something to look at as well as trying to understand the game storyline better with the pictures it can create the scene and setting it for the player to use various interactions it makes the story a lot better and clearer with the visuals that display a clear and vivid image of the setting and the actions that are happening. I have also included music which display the country culture with the use of instruments that also help set the scene and story for the player Player interaction is important for a successful game if the player enjoys the visuals

the images already give the player a good understanding of how the story is set and how the images will be used to create a full flowing story in which the player can be entertained in a very basic game but with visuals it can be brought to life. looking at other people’s work their style is very similar in the way that it can keep the player entertained with a wide

range of visuals that people enjoy and understand the story with as it doesn’t throw the player of with an image that might not fit with the passage but is linked to the game itself.

the way to make sure that images fit the screen is to make sure that I make the command that means the image are not to large but not to small as well using the interface I can command how I want the image and how it will be displayed on the web. I can also change the text colours to create a more vibrant game that reflects the mood of the game or even be clever and hide the text and the person has to go and search for the text on screen in which they have to find the text on the page to know where the next passage is and also give an element of difference to the conventional Twine game.
