USBands Maryland State Championship

Important Event Information USBands welcomes you to the 2015 USBands Maryland State

Championship. Thank you for joining USBands at Navy-Marine

Corps Stadium for this wonderful performance opportunity for

your students!

The following information is provided to make your participation

as easy as possible. Please read it carefully so you know what to

expect when you arrive at the event. We encourage you to check

www.usbands.org often between now and the competition for

the latest information. If you have any questions, please don’t

hesitate to call Kevin White at 610-821-0345 x117.

Band Tickets:

Each band has been sent PRE-SALE tickets to sell at a discounted rate for this event, and assumes financial

responsibility for each and every ticket.

If you did not receive your tickets, or if you need more tickets, please contact the USBands at 610-821-0345.

We hope you bring plenty of supporters to cheer on all of the performing students! When you arrive at the

event, please be sure to return any unsold tickets at Registration along with payments for any required tickets.

You will be responsible for full payment of any tickets not returned at Registration on the day of the event.

Ticket will be available at the event for $26 at the Box Office near the spectator entrance to the stadium.

Children 6 and under will be admitted free.

There is a $10 parking fee for this event collected by Pinnacle Parking.

Check-in/Registration: Please check in with the USBands Representative at Band Registration near Gate P

immediately upon arrival. In addition to handling invoices and tickets, you will also receive last-minute

information related to the event.

Restrooms: Restrooms will be available inside Gate P when you arrive. Please go as a group and escorted by a

credentialed staff members or chaperone.

Band Parking: Band Vehicles ONLY will enter Gate 2 off Farragut Road. No personal cars for band staff, parents

or volunteers are allowed to park in the band parking areas. Please let all of your staff and fans know that they

will need to park in spectator parking and the fee is $10.

Warm-Up: The warm-up area is on the GOLD Side Parking Lot. The warm-up area will be roped off. Please DO

NOT warm-up outside this area. Stay AWAY from the water tower area. If you warm-up in this area your sound

will travel directly into the stadium. Due to noise ordinances please – no warm-up before 7 AM or after 9 PM.

NO PLAYING IS PERMITTED AFTER YOUR PERFORMANCE including drum cadences.

Gate Time: Your band needs to be at the BAND ENTRANCE GATE 15 minutes prior to your scheduled

performance time. It is your responsibility to arrive at the gate at the appropriate time. It is approximately a

10 minute walk from the warm-up areas to the gate. If there are any significant changes in the event schedule,

USBands representatives will contact you via cell phone with the latest information.

Field Surface: Synthetic Turf with NCAA Hash Marks and High School Hash Marks painted on the turf.

Awards Ceremony: This event will have two Awards Ceremonies. Drum Majors and/or Band Representatives

should assemble for the Awards presentation at the band entrance gate before the last band performs in their

respective half of the event (see schedule).

Critique: No critique will be offered at this event. The adjudicators will provide feedback about your band’s

performance in the form of written adjudication sheets and digital recordings in your Dropbox folder.

Adjudication sheets will be distributed during the awards ceremony. Please notify a USBands staff member if

you will be unable to stay for awards. If you have any post-event questions regarding adjudication, please

contact [email protected].

Souvenirs: Airgrams, Programs, Candygrams, band wearables by PepWear and other band related souvenirs

will be available in the stadium during the event.

Concessions: Concessions will be available in the stadium during the event.

Rain plan: In the event of inclement weather, all directors should report to the Band Registration Area near

Gate P to meet with the USBands Representatives to discuss delay or cancellation scenarios.

Staff/Adult Access Into Stadium: You should have already received one USBands Director Badge and a specified number of USBands Staff badges for your instructors and adult chaperones/equipment handlers, etc. The number of passes assigned to you is based on the group size of the band (see Participant Guide).

Only individuals with these passes will be permitted on the field during the band’s performance, and through the Band Entrance Gate. All other adults must have a

ticket to enter the stadium as a spectator. Entry to the Stadium Following the Performance: Your band members are invited into the stadium to view

the remainder of the event, free of charge. Entrance for band members in uniform, or in a group if out of

uniform, is through the GATE P. While in the stadium, the band members are to sit in groups, with appropriate

supervision. Please remind your students to be respectful of other audience members, as well as the bands

performing on the field.

Please explain these guidelines to your staff, students and supporters prior to the event.

Westbound on US 50 take exit 24 and keep right toward Annapolis. Take the first right at the traffic light on Farragut Rd. Gate is about a 1/4 mile on your left. Eastbound on US 50 take exit 24a and proceed to the second traffic light and turn right onto Farragut Road. Gate is about 1/4 mile on your left.
