Save the date!The McGill SustainabilitySciences and TechnologiesInitiative:Developing the McGill GrandChallenges With a McGill commitment of $10M over 5 years,the Sustainability Sciences and TechnologiesInitiative (SSTI) is a major initiative that aims tocreate a hub of expertise and centre of excellencein the field of sustainability sciences andtechnologies. This hub will bring together McGill’smany experts from a variety of fields and providesupport and seed funding for transdisciplinaryteams to tackle some of the most complex andchallenging issues in sustainability. Its researchactivities will be based on a small number ofGrand Challenges – areas in which McGillexpertise can make a tangible and significantimpact. Faculty members working in the field ofsustainability sciences and technologies arestrongly encouraged to participate in one or moreof three SSTI “Lightning Talk” sessions takingplace across the university in the coming weeks.Speakers will give a 4minute presentation of theirresearch in the context of the big sustainabilityquestions. Sessions will be followed by a paneldiscussion and an opportunity for crossdisciplineinteraction. An invitation to join the sessions (aspresenter and/or participant) will be forwarded toyou in the coming days.
