Vacation Bible School (VBS) – July 13 - 17 Jambo! At Camp Kilimanjaro, you'll have an epic expedition through the book of Proverbs! Every day, our kids are faced with choices—will they choose wisely or foolishly? As they safari up Mount Kilimanjaro, your trekkers learn that true wisdom comes only from the one, true, all-wise God who wants us to be wise! And He's filled the book of Proverbs with wise sayings for us! As they study Proverbs, your hikers will learn to have

• ears that hear and do the Word of God; • hearts that trust in the Lord; • tongues that are tame; • hands that get to work; • feet that walk with the wise!

Set your compasses for Africa and prepare for an epic expedition at Camp Kilimanjaro VBS here at Immanuel!

SUMMER LEARNING Did You Know?

This summer break is 12 weeks long. That’s as long as a summer break can be due to getting out early in June and starting so late in August.

Students score lower on standardized tests at the end of summer vacation than they do at the beginning of summer vacation.

Students will lose about two months of math computational skills over the summer. On average, students lose about 2.6 months’ worth of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation skills during their summer break.

Reading about 6 books at a child’s reading level can maintain their reading ability through the summer.

When it comes to helping reduce or eliminate summer learning loss, parents have a key role to play. Learning loss is much less pronounced, if there at all, in families that enrolled children in classes, took trips to local libraries, participated in reading programs, or took advantage of other, often free, learning opportunities. Numerous studies have shown that children have much better reading outcomes when parents are involved in learning about and helping their children with literacy.
