Instructions for University of Waikato
Orienteering Map Design your own course using some or all of the controls marked on the map and visit them in that particular order.
An example of a 1.9 km course starting and finishing at the Uni Rec Centre is:
54 12 10 9 51 36
At each control is a 70 x 70 mm orange/white plaque (see example at top right corner on the map) directly attached to the feature, eg picnic table, building corner. On the orange and white sections of each plaque you will see a letter and number. Write this in the respective column alongside each control description as evidence that the correct site has been located.
Orienteering Waikato runs a series of urban events in spring and summer each year, normally on Wednesday evenings. Events are also held on weekends throughout autumn and spring in farmland and forest around the Waikato. Check our website for upcoming events.
We hope you find what you are looking for. However, if you can’t find a control marker, please check the location photos on our website (Permanent Course Help tab) to make sure you were looking in the correct place. If the control marker is gone please send us an email so we can replace it.
