This project was primarily concerned with designing a prototype bus stop based upon a kit of parts that were developed in direct relation to an architect’s particular design style. The bus stop should replace an existing structure and include seating suitable for multiple patrons.
The design sought to take advantage of Rudolf Schindler’s innovative modern window designs. The window panels were primarily utilized horizontally to provide a semi-permeable surface that would allow for shelter from light rain and diffuse sunlight.
The intent of this project was to develop an interesting and dynamic form, concieved through the use of various Rhinocerous software techniques, that could function as a real world pavilion installation.
The design process employed volumetric changes in the form that would create varying spaces for a wide user experience. The opening above the form allows light to flood through the pavilion, illuminating the spaces below. The various openings around the exterior of the pavilion allow for multiple points of entry while the lowest arching form makes it possible for users to climb and enjoy the space above the pavilion as well.

A Writer’s RetreatArchitecture Studio 3Catherine ChangFall 2012
The purpose of this project was to design a space that would reflect a writer’s personal style and essence.
The design process employed an open floor plan that would allow for the writer to change the layout to however they see fit. The design also sought to maximize light capacity through the use of glazing throuhgout as well as the use of a skylight in the stairwell.
Pier 70 Urban DesignArchitecture Studio 5Barbara ShandsFall 2013
The purpose of this project was to develop an urban design proposal for the Pier 70 development in the outskirts of San Francisco.
The design process involved the reestablishment of the preexistent piers in the development area. My proposla was adament about utilizing these piers by bridging them with an institutional arts education center. By activating the area, the general public will be drawn from the coast to the urban context and vice versa.
Helix TowerRhino: Introduction to Computer DesignMahsa VanakiFall 2014
The intent of this project was to develop an interesting and dynamic tower, concieved through the use of various Rhinocerous software techniques.
The design process employed a dynamic floor plan that integrated a structural core which twists throughout the tower from top to bottom. The dense mullion system was used to mimic the flow and density of the structural core.
Surface ProjectRhino: Introduction to Computer DesignMahsa VanakiFall 2014
The intent of this project was to develop an interesting and dynamic form, concieved through the use of various Rhinocerous software techniques, that served as an introdution to the program.
The design process involved creating a drynamic surface that could be developed further into a possibel architectural structure. The design used two similar forms of varying heights that met together to create an interesting and volumetric form.
