Overview of Industrial Training
O Industrial Training refers to work experience that is relevant to professional development prior to graduation
O Industrial Training is a requirement for the award of O Industrial Training is a requirement for the award of Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Quantity Surveying and Architecture
O Pre-requisite: Students must passed at least 67 credit hours and completed Measurement I and II
O Training period is 28 weeks, i.e. from June until November, and should be completed before Y4S2
Objectives of Industrial Training
O To expose students to the industry, where things
and matters not taught in the lecture rooms
O To apply the knowledge taught in the lecture O To apply the knowledge taught in the lecture
rooms in real industrial situations
O To use the experience gained from the
‘Industrial Training’ in discussions held in the
lecture rooms
O To get a feel of the work environment

O To gain experience in writing reports of QS works/projects

O To expose the students to future employers as well as to introduce the Industrial Training Program available within UTAR

Industrial PlacementIndustrial Placement
It is the responsibility of each student to obtain
her/his own industrial placement
Procedure
O Your attempts to obtain industrial placement experience are part of the training
O Use your initiative and document or record how you have gained each employment in your report
O Industrial Placement Form must be completed and is compulsorycompulsorycompulsorycompulsory to be submitted to industrial coordinators together with individual résumé (both in hardcopy and softcopy)

Documents required when applying for placement in a company

Objective of report – Write the objective(s) of the report.
Description of report structure – Describe the structure of report, i.e. what reader can
expect from the report.

Company background – Describe the nature of company, the culture (people and the
working system) and associates or networks of the company. What had you observed and
what had you learn from them?
Description of tasks setting – Describe the work that you did, e.g. if you had prepared the
tender document, describe the process of the work or work flow that you did.
Report achievement of tasks set – Refer to task described above, write on the achievement
you made; e.g. the tender was prepared on time without any mistake, as required by your
immediate supervisor because you had worked overtime and that you had clerical assistant to
