Ahmedabad: Dairy farmers battling rising costs of cattle feed have been given a relief by finance minister Nitin Patel.

The scheme will benefit nearly 15 lakh livestock owner who are members of the vil· lage milk cooperatives," said Patel.R S Sodhi, managing director of GCMMF, said, " This will go a long way as it would reduce the cost dairy farmers incur towards maintaining their cattle. The state government also made a budget­ary provision of Rs 81 crore for providing subvention to livestock owners dairy farm, animal units and goat units, among other schemes. The government has also an­nounced another scheme to provide subven­tion to small and traditional fishermen for procuring engines.
