Travel along the "Highway to Freedom," a road along which most enslaved people who fled this area in the 1800s lived. Ride past key landmarks like the Stanley Institute, Madison, Parsons Creek and Stewart's Canal, and the New Revived Church, while our tour guide narrates. Enjoy a narrated cruise aboard the 52-ft. "Sawyer" vessel, along waterways where Harriet Tubman and her family worked and acquired some valuable information that was needed to guide fellow slaves to freedom along the Underground Railroad. After that, enjoy a home-cooked buffet-style (groups of under 30 people get a family-style meal with most of the same items) seafood meal at Old Salty's Restaurant and Gift Shop on Hoopers Island. The meal typically includes crab cakes (one per person), clam strips, fresh fish, soft-shell crabs (if available), baked lemon pepper chicken, ham, vegetables, salad, iced tea, coffee, and an assortment of homemade pie slices for dessert. After lunch, conclude your tour at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center. See exhibits that display how this region shaped her early years, and illustrate her work as a freedom fighter, leader, and liberator. On the way back to Cambridge, ride past and learn about more landmarks that were relevant to Tubman's life, including the Brodess Farm,
