Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
I recently came across this article in the Lutheran Witness. I would like to share it with you as it is a great reminder of
the responsibilities we have to one another as the Church of Christ.
I Have Set a Watchman - April 26, 2016 in Lutheran Witness, This Month in Church 4
by Rosie Adle
A person who receives a diagnosis from a doctor can be thankful for it. While no one wants to hear that he’s
diseased, it is usually far better to know than to go on without that knowledge.
Then there are tax preparers. It’s a bummer when a person hears she owes more money to the government,
but without that information the debt would only grow. No lasting good comes of not knowing, and there’s
potential for great harm in such ignorance.
It isn’t right to dislike the doctor or the accountant for correctly identifying and communicating a disease or
deficiency. It would be irresponsible for a doctor or accountant to pretend that everything is cool if it’s not.
We hear from our pastor that we are sinners. Our sin is real and it’s a problem, and without repentance and
forgiveness our situation will get worse. Being the messenger with that memo isn’t easy.
The prophet Ezekiel was told:
“So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my
mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, and
you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but
his blood I will require at your hand” (Ezek. 33:7-8).
That’s tough stuff right there.
Pastors are accountable to the Lord. Their ordination vows are serious and quite heavy. Our pastors are
called to minister, that is, to serve. Pastors would do us all a terrible disservice to pretend that everyone is
fine.
We are sick. We are beggars. We are sinners. Our pastors tell us this bad news so that we see our disease
and deficiencies. We don’t like hearing it. It’s so important though. Then our pastors also tell us the Good
News. Christ is our Great Physician. He has paid everything we owe. The Good News is for those who need
it. It’s for those who aren’t fine without it. That would be all of us.
Thank you for watching out for me, Pastor! Thanks for the bad news, and thanks for the Good News! I
needed that!
Deaconess Rosie Adle is an online instructor for the distance deaconess program of Concordia Theological
Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN.
Thank you to all of you for being my partner in the ministry here at Trinity Lutheran Church and Academy.
Blessings,
Pastor Jeff

Grace, Mercy and Peace from God our Father, One of the many summer highlights of kids, is VBS (Vacation Bible School).
VBS is a fun and engaging way to learn more about God and His people.
This year's Trinity Lutheran Church's VBS theme takes place in "EGYPT". It is
an in-depth look at the life of Joseph, who's journey includes going from life in
prison to life in the Pharos's palace.
We do this through songs, stories and playing games. The weeks fun and
learning all culminate on VBS Sunday Service when the kids have the exciting
opportunity to share what they have learned with friends, family and the con-
gregation.
"EGYPT" VBS will be June 20th to the 24th (morning to noon). VBS Sunday is
June 26th. For more information, please email [email protected]
Send it attention Dawn Carlson.

A GENTLE REMINDER
As a pastor, I do my best not to preach "money, money, money"
as research has shown it is one of the top 5 reasons people say
they do not come to church. With that said, I would like to remind
you that we are entering into the summer season, which histori-
cally is a time where tithes and offerings decrease, but the costs
of the church operations increase.
If you look around on Sunday mornings, you will see that many,
if not all, of our "winter Floridians" have headed north for the
summer. And as it should be, their gifts and tithes are once again
redirected back to the northern parishes they attend. Please
prayerfully consider increasing by even $5 or $10 if you can.

Luther.
This study is especially for those going to Germany in
September, however, any and all are welcome to get to
know this amazing man up-close and personal.
Classes start on June 22nd in the Fellowship Hall.
Hello everyone! It has been a whole month since we have

Learning Space Christian Academy
Greetings from the Learning Space Christian Academy! We are so proud of
our VPK children as they prepare for their graduation, which will take
place Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 12:30 pm. The children have been practic-
ing their songs and dances, getting ready for the ceremony. They have grown
and learned so much over the past year, and they are so excited to celebrate
with their parents and friends. Even the little kids have a special performance
planned as they send off the older children on their way to kindergarten. If
you would like a ticket to the graduation, please let us know. We wish you all
a lovely summer.
