Knowledge & Learning : Trajectories
Canonical trajectory – the designed
experience
Participant trajectory – the actual experience
Transitions – moments where continuity is at
risk
Encounters – moments of social contact (or
isolation)
Historic trajectory – the ‘remembered’
experience
Trajectories – the jargon

What’s good?How do I know what I think until I see what I say?

What’s missing - a process
1. Sketch and tell the story of the optimal designed experience.
1. Use the concepts of transitions and encounters to interrogate
the designed experience and identify opportunity for refinement.
2. Transitions and encounters should also reveal the possible
divergent paths from the optimal designed experience. Describe
the supported boundaries around this ideal designed
experience to create an envelope into which each of these
should fit.
