A topic sentencetopic sentence is a statement that tells what your paragraph

will be about. It is the first sentence of each of your 3 body

paragraphs.

A good topic sentencetopic sentence does two important things.

1. Helps you stay focused on the topic of your paragraph.

2. Helps readers to know what your paragraph will be about.

I will never forget the first time I bit into a piping hot Big Mac from McDonald's. I was eleven, and the day was crisp and perfect for eating. I could hardly wait to bite into the soft roll. The first bite was heaven. As I luxuriated in the taste of the special sauce, I wondered if anything else in my life would be as sweet, as momentous as this experience. Sadly, all other events in my life have paled in comparison, but there are always Big Macs waiting for me at a nearby McDonald's, which I love for their flavor, the positive memories I have eating them, and the interesting history behind them. A notable reason why I love Big Macs are for their unique flavor. (Crud! Now what do I say??? Oh yeah. Ishould go look at my essay map or outline.)

There is something about the spices McDonald’s uses on their beef patties that makes me want to continue eating, which is why I sometimes have to have a second Big Mac in one sitting. I suppose I am a person who enjoys a variety of flavors in one bite, and the Big Mac does not disappoint with its perfect mix of sweet, salty, and tart flavors.
