‘Overture Films – Starz Company’ is the first title to appear in the opening. The words appear in tune with the music (relaxing piano melody) and then ‘The film department’

appears. The to companies use suitable sound effects to enhance their logo’s.

Appears at 00:01 seconds and is on screen for 13 seconds Appears at 00:15 seconds and is on screen for 6 seconds

The font used for the titles are very basic but are effective because as you can see there are slits and scratches on the letters. This connotes disruption or danger towards

anything that should be normal and this will happen in the film.

After the first scene the title of the film then appears using the same basic font with chunks out of it like the credits at the beginning.

Throughout the opening scene the audience is still unaware on the title. The title “Law Abiding Citizen” contradicts the opening as the actions that took place broke the law and the intruders were not law abiding

citizens. This leaves the audience confused and makes it hard for them to predict what is going to happen in the film as the title is so vague.

This appears on the screen to show the audience that time has passed. It is still in the same setting and has the same people in it as the previous scene

10 years before. This shows the audience that it is the same people as before but they have aged. This also connotes that these people have an

important part in the film as it has just focused on them.
