Don’t style hair into objects – be innovative! • Think of unusual textures or fabrics not normally associated with hair • This is NOT a Fantasy category – rather it is a displayof fashion forward, progressive, imaginative and edgy styles

AVANT GARDE

Images published in consumer media magazines are acceptable • Images can ALSO be from a fashion shoot, red carpet look or a non-beauty industry fashion spread • Collection should push the boundaries of wearable hair while still complementing the overall look

EDITORIAL/SESSION STYLIST OF THE YEAR

Wigs are not permitted in this category • Avoid photographic filters and other special affects as they distort the overall look • Be mindful of color balancing – do not change the color or tone of the hair

HAIRCOLOR

Haircuts should complement the individuality of the model • Make a dynamic statement with just your cutting tools • Must use three models – each with a different look

HAIRCUTTING

Collection must demonstrate mastery in Long Hair, Short Hair, Textured Hair and Haircolor• While creativity and originality is highly valued – your work should still be beautifuland of NAHA quality • Entries from this category can not be used in any other category

HAIRSTYLIST OF THE YEAR

Artists DO NOT need to be a certified makeup artist to enter. • Accentuate the model’s beauty and makeup with close-up camera shots • Team up with a hairstylist to complement your makeup vision

MAKEUP ARTIST OF THE YEAR

Wigs, extensions and hairpieces are prohibited • Styles should be wearable, contemporary and reflect current trends • Facial hair in images will be included in judging

The total look is very important – show how you can demonstrate the harmony between world-class hairdressing and nail artistry • You may NOT use any copyrighted, trademarked art designs or logos • Entries from this category may be used in other categories

NAIL PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

Must use three different models showcasing three unique hairstyles • Your collection should include diverse, creative and versatile hair designs that capture the excellence of the beauty industry • You must be licensed for less than three years (as of February 8, 2018) to enter

NEWCOMER STYLIST OF THE YEAR

Be sure to NOT include the name of your salon or school in the picture • Images should display the vision, culture and philosophy of your school or salon • Overall ambiance, design, architecture and décor are honored

SALON/SCHOOL DESIGN OF THE YEAR

Teams DO NOT have to be employed at the same salon but must consist of at least two members • Images may not be used in any other category • Must use five Models –each with a different look

TEAM OF THE YEAR

Entrant must be enrolled in school or performing required hours as of December 1, 2017 • Images should display creativity, determination and hard work • Don’t be afraid to reach outto your school administrator for help

STUDENT HAIRSTYLIST OF THE YEAR

Display hairstyles that are crafted with a high level of styling knowledge • Collection can include, but is not limited to: brush work, braids, updos, finger waves, etc. • Images should Judges want to see the perfect balance of styling and finishing that complements an overall look

STYLING & FINISHING

Looks can be created with naturally textured hair or by use of heat/chemicals, but should display wearable hairstyles • This is not an Avant Garde or Fantasy Category • Images may not be used in the Styling & Finishing category
