1 MAKE SURE YOUR PROFILE IS SET UP FOR SUCCESS!

A note before you begin...

Often it is uncomfortable to ask people for money or support because we feel it is personal. But the key thing to remember is that you are fundraising for ANZUP – a charity that is focussed on improving the treatment and outcomes for those with urogenital cancers.

Fundraising is an essential part of ANZUP being able to continue on their mission to furthering life-changing cancer research. While your friends,

family, colleagues and network may be supporting you by donating to your fundraising page, they are really donating to ANZUP, and you are

helping facilitate that.

Try not to think of it as taking money from your friends. Instead, consider it an open opportunity for them to donate to a worthy cause and feel good whilst doing it!

Not to mention, all donations of $2 or more in Australia are tax deductable!

Thank you for signing up to fundraise as part of our Below the Belt Pedadalthon.

We know that asking people for money can be awkward. Maybe you haven’t done it before, or you’re unsure how to go about it. To help you overcome this, we’ve made this list of tips and tricks to help you kick start your ANZUP fundraising journey.

As part of registering for the Below the Belt Pedalthon you would have been given a fundraiser page. This is where people will find about more about you and make donations to your cause. Add a profile picture and a quick blurb about yourself to start off.

People like to know who they are donating to!

We all have different reasons for getting involved with ANZUP and the Below the Belt Pedalthon. Telling your reason for why you are fundraising is something people want to hear.

Perhaps it is because you or a family member has experienced a below the belt cancer.

Or, you are in the health industry and see first-hand the impact cancer has on people, their family and friends.

Maybe it is a simple as you love cycling and the idea of riding for a good cause.

Share your why on your • fundraiser profile, • in your social media posts, • via email

... anywhere where you are seeking out donors show your passion for the Pedalthon!

TELL YOUR STORY!2

BONUS TIP

Close the gap for your donors… as a final part of telling your story, why not highlight where your donation really goes. Here’s a snapshot to share on your profile:

27,224 new cases of below the belt cancers were diagnosed in Australia and 4,502 in New Zealand last year – that’s 77 people every day.

It can be challenging to obtain the initial funding required to move a concept through to being a viable clinical trial. That’s why the ANZUP Below the Belt Research

Fund was established to help great ideas develop further. Your donation goes directly to the Belt the Belt Research Fund to support ANZUP trials to improve

outcomes for people with below the belt cancers.

3 SET A FUNDRAISING TARGET (& RAISE IT!)

We recommend setting a fundraising goal of at least:

But this is only the minimum – be ambitious and set yourself a higher fundraising goal, then go for it!

If you hit your target, or you are close to reaching it – increase it. If people think you are close to meeting your target they may not donate the $200 they were planning to, if you are only $75 off your goal.

If you increase your goal, tell your supporters! Tell them that their generous support is why you’ve smashed your target and can now raise more!

4 GET OUT THERE!

Let people know that you are fundraising by sharing your Fundraiser Page on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, whatever you use to be social! Ask your friends to re-share your post – every share helps!

Put a poster up at your work, sports club or in your local shops. Host a BBQ or morning tea. Ask your boss to match your donations dollar for dollar.

The options for getting out there and showing people that you are fundraising for a charitable cause are endless.
