How to enterCreate an image suitable for the front cover

of a magazine that will forecast fashion for the coming season.

BriefThis award is for New Zealand hairdressers

who are wanting to expand their personal brand through photographic competition success.

Whilst the focus should be hair, ultimately the Judges will be asked to choose a fashion forward editorial shot

that is current or progressive.

Hot tip We encourage all entrants to research all forms of

fashion media, creating a mood board is a fantastic idea to be able to communicate your ideas with a makeup

artist, photographer, fashion stylist and your model.Whilst retouching of your images is not a requirement,

we suggest that you retouch your images to magazine standard.

Entries will be judged

on the following criteria

Hair

Shows elements of technical skill with the hair being the main focus (ie. recommend a neutral background)

Fashion

Including makeup, clothing & accessories

Photograph

Suitable for magazine cover

ENTRANTS1. The entrant must be either a member of the NZARH themselves or working/studying in a member

salon/Training Provider to be eligible to enter.2. Should the entrant change salons after entering the competition their details will remain as the salon/

Photosmustbeprovidedinhardcopy(prints)anddigitalformat(tifforjpegonCDorDVD).9. Thejudgesandorganisingcommitteehavethesolediscretionastotheassessmentofeach

photographic entry. Judges will endeavour to apply the following criteria but their discretion in allaspectsofassessmentisfinal:a) The hair – shows elements of technical skill with the hair being the main focus.b) Fashion – makeup, clothing & accessories to compliment the hair.c) Photograph quality – suitable for a magazine cover, reproduction, background ties in with photo.

10. By entering this competition the entrant and models agree to NZARH holding their personalinformation (including names, place of employment) for the purposes of promoting the NZARHEditorial Stylist of the Year or other events promoted by NZARH. The Atrium, Wintec, Hamilton City .TERMS AND CONDITIONS1. Originality. The entrant must be the original creator of the hair work represented in the photography.

All entries must be osriginal and previously unpublished. Photographs submitted for this competition(2017 NZARH Editorial Stylist of the Year) cannot be used to enter other photographic competitionsor posted on any website or social media except for the purpose of this competition (2017 NZARHEditorial Stylist of the Year) by the entrant until the winners have been announced on Sunday, 13thNovember 2017.

2. Work submitted for NZARH 2017 Editorial Stylist of the Year Award must not have previously beenpublished, this includes all on line media formats and behind the scenes photos.You cannot submit “out takes” or another edit of the same shoot, however you can use the samemodelrestylethehairandclothinginadifferentmannerforsubmission.

3. Copyright. Copyright of the submitted entry or entries remains with the photographer and hairstylist.Approval for entry and use of that entry or entries in the competition is the responsibility of theentrant who must have the written permission, or alternatively a licence, from the hairstylist andphotographer for such entry or entries or use, including the use by the NZARH for any legitimatepurpose and in any fora.

4. Reproduction Rights. The NZARH may reproduce an entry or entries in any existing or future mediumofitschoiceforaperiodoffiveyearsfromtheclosingdateofentries.TheNZARHundertakesnotto trade that entry or entries for any gain or for any other use to any party, apart from promotionalpurposes,withoutfirstobtainingthewrittenpermissionofthecopyrightholder(s).

5. Moral Rights Protection.The NZARH acknowledges the moral rights provisions of the Copyright Act1994includingtherightoftheHairStylisttobeidentifiedastheauthorofanyentryorentries.Toprotect the artistic integrity of the entry or entries the NZARH will not intentionally edit, alter demeanor misrepresent the entry or entries in any way.

6. Model and Property Release. It is the Entrant’s responsibility to obtain appropriate written permissionfromanypersonand/ortheownerofanypropertythatisidentifiableintheentryorentries.TheEntrant agrees to provide the NZARH with a copy of this written permission if requested to do so.

7. Indemnity.TheEntrantindemnifiestheNZARHagainstanyclaim(s)arisingfromanybreachesoftheintellectual property rights of any third party referred to in these terms and conditions of entry.

8. Insurance. All entries will be treated with care, but no responsibility will be accepted in the case ofloss or damage. Insurance is the Entrant’s sole responsibility.

9. Privacy. By entering this competition the Entrant undertakes that he/she has obtained the permissionof all parties associated with the entry or entries for the NZARH to hold their personal information(including name, contact details and place of employment or study) for the purposes of promotingNZARH, its competitions and events.
