worth about $200 million• Eve of WWI he was worth an estimated

$900m!• By his death $1.4billion.• The key for Rockefeller’s success was

gaining an advantage in transport costs. • Every decision in his business, was aligned

on his focus of reducing transportation costs.

The Background . . . John D RockefellerRockefeller had 3 sets of fundamentals that he

followed:• Priorities – the balance of short and long term

goals.• Data – in order to know you are working on

your priorities, you need feedback in terms of real information or data. There are some Smart Numbers which give you an idea long term of the business and there are the Critical Numbers which are more short term. So balance the short & long term through numbers!

• Rhythm – You need to keep everyone aligned with the goals, so this means regular meetings and keeping people accountable. This will provide rhythm to get to the goal.
