Employee Wellness - EYE CAMP on 2nd May 2011

Light is Prosperity –like wise Human sound Eye Sight determines the Health of the Body of the Hu-

man being. If the Eye sight is intact, the Human Body as a whole is perfect goes the reading from vari-

ous sources.

CCT Management being an Agile and Carrying Employer, always looks for an Employee Wellness. One

such activity on Employee Wellness organized was Eye Camp under the auspicious was VASAN EYE

CARE on the 2nd May 2011 to commemorate the Workers/ May Day. Over 250 Employees have gone

for Screening of their Eyes and taken opinion for further reference. Notwithstanding with the regular

employees, the service providers/ contract workmen too participated in the camp and benefited out

of the same. Over 250 personnel have benefited out of this Eye Camp.

By and Large the camp was a Great Success.

CHENSAA Meeting

The monthly CHENSAA meeting was held on 3rd May 2011. The meeting was attended by

representatives of all the major Shipping Lines & Vessel operators.

CCT also took the opportunity to honor and felicitate Sri.G.Viswanathan, who relinquished charge as

the Chairman, CHENSAA after being at its helm for two terms. During his tenure as Chairman,

CHENSAA he contributed towards reduction in VRC for mainline container vessels Chennai Port &

implementation of auto approval as per P.N.48 for movement of import containers to off-dock CFS’s

and as a constituent of CTCC he actively participated in all the meetings and representations for

development of port infrastructure - implementation of EMRIP, opening of additional leaves at Gate 1

for entry /exit of container trailers, parking yard adjacent to gate 1 and several other significant

contributions.

Team CCT wished him the very best in all his endeavors and requested him to continue with his

involvement and participation as a member of CHENSAA.

6th Southern Asia Ports, Logistics & Shipping 2011

Delegates from the 6th Southern Asia Ports, Logistics & Shipping 2011 as a part of their technical site visit to

Chennai Port visited our terminal on 04.05.2011. They were received by Mr.Arasu, CEO and were given detailed

presentation on facilities available at the terminal.

Mr.Arasu made was one of the speakers on day 2 of the two day conference held on 5th & 6th May held at Ho-

tel Park Sheraton. He made a detailed presentation on the topic “Building A Competitive Advantage in Port

And Terminal Operations” wherein the following issues were covered:

• Transport Bottlenecks And Congestion Problems: A Sign of Commercial Success or Failure?

• Sustaining Port Competitiveness With Right Investments in Booming Container Trade

• Operational Excellence of a Transshipment Hub

• Hinterland Connectivity - A Key Factor to Sustainable Port Operations?

• Building Partnerships : Inter And Intra-Port Competition And Cooperation

New service launch:

DP World Chennai proudly hosted the launch of TMT (Taiwan Madras Trunk) service

Interasia Lines Singapore Pte.Ltd. a partner in the Taiwan Madras Trunk (TMT) service commenced the new

mainline service with the maiden call of m.v. Karin Schulte calling at DP World Chennai on 13th May 2011. The

other partners in the service are Wan Hai Lines and Evergreen Lines

The service will deploy 4 x 1700 TEU capacity vessels and operate with the following port rotation : Taichung -

Keelung - Hong Kong - Hong Kong (midstream) - Nansha - Shekou - Port Kelang - Chennai - Penang - Port Kelang

- Singapore - Yantian - Hong Kong - Taichung. The weekly service will call CCT every Friday.

In a small inauguration ceremony held on board the vessel on board m.v.Karin Schulte, Shri.Atulya Misra – IAS,

Chairman,Chennai Port Trust, welcomed the direct service to Far East. Mr.Ennarasu Karunesan, Director &

CEO, DP World Chennai welcomed the Master of the Vessel Capt. Tarwid Andrzej Bogdan and his crew to

DP World Chennai and thanked Mr.Foo See Kent, Director, Interasia Lines, officials of Aissa Maritime Pvt.Ltd

(Agents for Interasia Lines) and representatives of Wan Hai Lines and Evergreen Lines on this initiative in

launching this service and for reposing faith in launching this service at DP World Chennai.He assured the

service partners of the best possible support to make the service a grand success.

The guaranteed fast connectivity of the service will immensely benefit importers and exporters operating

out of Chennai Port and its hinterland by creating new service links with Taiwan and China. This service will

facilitate catering to the bullish cargo potential from Taiwan and China to India. The major import commodities

which this service cater to will be Domestic appliances, Floor Tiles, Furniture etc. and export commodities will

be mainly Agro products & Minerals.

The function was attended by the HOD’s and Customer Service Team of DP World Chennai.
