Interactive seminar on Logistics Parks - “A key imperative to achieve excellance”
CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) had organized an interactive seminar on Logistics Parks - “A key im-
perative to achieve excellence” on 26th April 2011.
Key policies and infrastructural changes are facilitating a major shift in thelogistics industry towards improved
performance. One such shift is the revolution towards multi-modal logistics parks. This will open up new ave-
nues and opportunities for manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, and logistic players to improve their supply
chains. Service, cost and time advantage are direct benefits of such parks and outsourcing value-added services
which are traditionally performed in-house further increases the competitiveness.
The seminar was be facilitated by several eminent personalities with years of global and India experience from
the industry, 3PL/4PL, infrastructure developers, and public and private multimodal freight operators.

Interactive seminar on Logistics Parks - “A key imperative to achieve excellance”
Mr.Ennarasu made a detailed presentation on the role of PPP in Logistics in India, it was briefed that the worth
of Indian Logistics was worth $ 85 bn in 2010 and it is expected to reach $ 550 bn by 2020. The support
infrastructure available to handle the mushrooming and ever growing logistics industry is presently not
commensurate with the growth. It was emphasized that integrated Logistics Parks, CFS’s and ICD’s have to be
increased pan India to cater to the growing volumes which will add significant value the entire supply chain and
will also help reducing the transaction cost.
To achive above and in order to achieve a self sustaining logistics net work, it is imperative for the Government
to intervene and create a national policy on logistics, encourage public-private participation in developing a
robust logistics infrastructure for developments of roads/rail networks across the nation and to enable creation
of state-of-art infrastructural facilities at our Sea Ports and Air Ports. We need to concentrate on developing
Logistics parks at tier ‘B’ cities viz., Coimbatore, Nagpur, Gurgaon, Kochi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and other cities
where immense potential is envisaged. The Government should look at also allocating required land to private
players to set up their facilities in addition to catering to the requirement of power, water and fuel.
