ANNUAL CHAI FUND2020–2021

ADULT EDUCATION TAUGHT BY CONGREGANTS

DEAR MEMBERS OF THE SHIR TIKVAH COMMUNITY,

This is a Chai campaign unlike any other! Hopefully, that will be true and we will never again need to run an annual giving campaign during a pandemic. I struggle to write this message because you have been so generous in the last 6 months and once again, I am asking. Your donation to Chai helps many of us continue membership or our children’s Jewish education. This past year more than ever, many of us have come to fully appreciate how important Temple Shir Tikvah is in our lives, providing a steady presence—spiritually, socially and emotionally. Our virtual community offers prayer, celebration, and most of all, connections. In many cases, we have turned these hard times into opportunities to deepen relation-ships. I’d like to share a personal example. I typically attend one of our newly created offerings, “Monday morning minyan” to start my week with calm and purpose. I don’t usually miss it, but occasionally I do. When I do, I get many emails or calls from other participants asking if I’m ok. There are approximately 40 people in the group and somehow it feels intimate. We care for each other by calling, zooming, dropping off care packages, and other creative ways of keeping in touch.

Donations to this fund help sustain us as a community and as human beings. It will create a more just and whole world for tomorrow. Please join us by making your gift today.

With appreciation and warmth—

Jerilyn HeinoldTemple President

TEMPLE SHIR TIKVAH IS VIRTUALLY EVERYWHERE!

THE ANNUAL CHAI FUND—ENSURING WE THRIVE WHEN IT MATTERS MOST.

How do we ensure that our spiritual home will be here for us tomorrow, for our children and future generations? How do we ensure that Temple Shir Tikvah continues to thrive? We do it through the Annual Chai Fund.

The major purpose of the Annual Chai Fund is to keep dues and tuition affordable so that we can welcome all who wish to join our Jewish community. More than ever, many of us have come to appreciate how important TST is in our lives, providing a steady presence spiritually, socially or emotionally.

In the past few years, 50 percent of our temple has participated in giving to the Annual Chai Fund with donations that range from $25 to over $10,000 and totaling nearly $120,00 last year. Our Board and our clergy have been strong supporters of the Annual Chai Fund. We also receive donations to Chai from family and friends of our temple members. Strong support through Chai dona-tions ensures we are able to enact our values today so that tomorrow is a more just and whole world. Join us by making your gift today.

Warmly,

Edward Kuh, Chai Chair
