the date will be October 1, 2012 for youth applying for the award trips. Motion made by Joanne Hornby that if a youth
has not been on a trip before, pay those first, if funds are available, others that have gone previously may be subsidized.
2nd by Deb Primmer. This year we had 24 youth applying for trip awards to the State and National 4-H Youth
Conference, Citizenship Washington Focus, National Dairy Conference and Space Camp. We need to educate the
youth on getting their applications in by this date. Resume Packets will be available to youth with proper forms and
guidelines to follow on this procedure.
New Business: Discussion on Radio Ads was table till summer. Leader Recognition: Motion made by Beth Lee to

host an Area Animal Science Days this summer. This is a regional livestock education program that will be on June 20,
2012 with more information to follow. There will be multiple counties participating and we will need commitments
from the 4-H members to help with hosting this event. There was a letter drafted to the people who run the Food Stand
and that was accepted.
Educator’s presentation – I am not at the meeting tonight due to an important family commitment. Thanks for your
understanding. A lot has been going on. Here is the update: Foodstand-- is progressing along nicely. Check was
received from proceeds of this year’s efforts, $10,000.
Chartering & Mandated State Reporting - I have spent considerable time learning the new reporting requirements by the
state 4-H system. The key documents are the club charters and their timeliness is crucial to meeting state deadlines.
Club leaders, overall, have been excellent about getting their paperwork in. Three clubs have completely new
leadership – Nerison, Retreat Ramblers and East Ridge Beavers. Two longtime 4-H clubs will be sunsetting
(disbanding) for various reasons. They are Hillsboro Hilltoppers and DeSoto Strivers.
The Pathway to Success career program offered locally was canceled due to low enrollment. I have two full sessions of
this to teach at the State Youth Conference coming up in December in the Dells.
Leader Retreat –This will be held in early February, hopefully at the Nordic Creamery. Watch for details in the
December newsletter.
Banquet Planning Meeting –The banquet is scheduled for Sunday, January 15th with the 22nd as a snowdate. Location
TBD. Hosting clubs are Springville Superstars, Mapledale Motivators/ Route 56, Kickapoo Rustlers, Hilltoppers and
Hotshots 4-H clubs.
Volunteer Orientation –Classes held in October & November for 14 new volunteers. Next class will be Dec. 11th 1
p.m. location TBD.
Youth Ambassadors –Spanky at Sleepy Hollow Auto shared last Sunday afternoon with us to learn what to look for in
purchasing a car. Spanky did a wonderful job of explaining how to read a title, questions to ask, how much money is
needed, etc. He provided a tour of the facility, from the sales floor to detailing, auto body repair and general vehicle
maintenance. I’d like to thank Anne Marie Elwing for organizing this event. Next event for Youth Ambassadors is
providing leadership for officer training, Dec. 27th. Youth should contact Vickie Dunnum or me if interested in
helping. Officer Training –Scheduled for Dec. 27th at KVR. Watch Dec. newsletter for complete details.
Area Animal Science Days – We have been asked to host this regional livestock educational program on Wednesday,
June 20, 2012. This is a huge event and lots of help will be needed in various project areas. More details to come!
Meeting adjourned by President Titel at 8:25pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Tammy Sherry, Secretary
