This couple (Sharon Owens as Streisand, and Sebastian Anzaldo as Sinatra) are popular performers from The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada - they look just like them! We have added in the Bemus Bay Pops Symphony Orchestra and a reworks display afterward…this is sure to be a rst class show!” All proceeds from the event will be donated to WCA. BY GARY DULANSKI As part of a nationwide observance Chautauqua Marina will celebrate their second annual National Marina Day on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 9 am to 3 pm. This is the second Marina Day celebration in Mayville and organizers like Debbie Clementi is hoping to hold them every year from now on. The festivities will feature some great activities for families and will focus on marine recreation safety and boat/jet ski maintenance as well as other fun events throughout the day. For the antique and yard sale enthusiast there will be a community- wide yard and craft sale going on throughout the town from 9am to 3pm-the entire duration of the Marina Day events. If you have some stuff to sell contact Debbie for a vendor application and claim a free outside booth or, to beat the possibility of rain, you will be able to get an inside booth for a $10 donation that will benet the Chautauqua Marina. And to forestall any future accidents on the water the coast guard auxiliary will be on hand to conduct free boat safety checks to anyone interested and the marina will give away booklets from the State of New York regarding Navigation Laws. There is also a call going out to all youth under the age of twelve to come out to the youth shing contest where prizes will be given and fun will be had from 10am to Noon. During National Marina Day, marinas across the United States will celebrate and promote their industry and boat and Jet Ski safety by inviting politicians, civic leaders and the public to their facilities. BY MEGAN O’DONNELL ST. BONAVENTURE UNIVERSITY Uncork some bottles and enjoy the music! That’s what 2,000 people are expected to do Saturday August 14 and Sunday the 15 at the third annual America’s Grape Country Wine Festival. The festival will take place in the heart of this wine region at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Each day will feature wine seminars where both drinkers and makers can learn a little more about different wines and the process each bottle of wine goes through. With each ticket purchased, people will receive “a parking pass, commemorative wineglass, a tasters guide and will be able to enjoy many bands,” said Amy Masters, a public relations and graphic artist for Merritt Wines. Crowd members will enjoy the musical stylings of “Boneshakers SEE WINE A-5 Expanded from last year, over 30 different wineries will be represented at the festival, each offering wine samplings. Also, each winery will have bottles available for purchase at the August 14 & 15 event. BY ANJANETTE NICOLAZZO After completing over $19 million worth of renovations to their emergency room, Jamestown’s WCA hospital, along with Bemus Bay Pops, is holding the fundraising event of the season. “The Concert That Never Was,” which is a tribute show to Barbara Streisand and Frank Sinatra, will be held on the Floating Stage on Chautauqua Lake on August 13, 2010. The capital improvements made to the hospital are in dedication to the hospital’s 125 th birthday. Owner of the Italian Fisherman and Chairman of the Bemus Bay Pops Organization Dan Dalpra says “This is going to be the event of the season. This couple (Sharon Owens as Streisand, and Sebastian Anzaldo as Sinatra) are popular performers from The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada - they look just like them! We have added in the Bemus Bay Pops Symphony Orchestra and a reworks display afterward… this is sure to be a rst class show!” All proceeds from the event will be donated to WCA. “In the Las Vegas hit show at the Riviera, “Barbra and Frank,” the rapport of these two musical icons is immediately prevalent. ‘The Concert That Never Was…’ includes segments in which Streisand and Sinatra create masterful duets of ‘Somewhere,’ ‘Something Stupid’ and ‘New York, New York.’ A highlight of the show is a delicate blending of two of their signature songs as Sinatra croons verses from ‘It Was A Very Good Year’ intertwined with Streisand’s memorable ‘The Way We Were,’” says Linda Johnson, WCA Marketing and Public Relations representative.
