The producer credits come at the beginning of the trailer, which is a popular convention used by most film producers in their trailers. The institutions that distribute this film are Focus Features and Columbia, and these seem to be the main institutions that distribute period drama films. Both of these companies are American.

The mention of the name ‘Philippa Gregory’ right at the beginning of the trailer shows that the film is likely to be a highly acclaimed one, as she is the original writer of the story that became a big success with consumers. The effect of using this is that it reassures viewers, as people won’t pay to see a film unless they know they are going to enjoy it. Immediately this gains a bigger audience, as readers of the novel will be excited to experience the film version.

‘the academy award nominated writer of The Queen’ again supports the idea that the film producers are trying to reassure the viewer, as it is unlikely to be a bad film if the writer was previously nominated for an academy award. To an audience who have seen and enjoyed many period drama films, showing that the writer of ‘The Queen’ is also the writer of this film gives further reassurance to the viewer- as they are likely to have seen or heard positive things about the above mentioned film.

The title ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ stands out to me, as we only ever really hear about one of the Boleyn sisters, Anne Boleyn. This is likely to appeal highly to an audience, especially a historian one, as it evokes interest into the ‘undiscovered’. The warm feminine colours used in the title contrast with the dark murky background, which could illustrate that the film has a somewhat dark and very serious tone.

This is the start of a billing block, another feature of most modern day film trailers. It tells us the names of the cast, producers, and all of the other people that contributed towards the making of the film. This is normally shown on one page as a whole, however in this film trailer it has been divided onto three separates screens.
