Reasons for doing so

Consists of three men, easy for me and Jacob to relate to.

Their target audience consists of teenagers and young adults

Our target audience is similar

Pop and Rock were voted our favourite genre. The script are a Pop/Rock band

Narrative of the songThe narrative of the song could be interpreted to be sports based.

Since the lyrics refer to being “the best” and “run the mile”. Furthermore, the music video opens with a boxer.

Thus, me and Jacob believed that this would be a narrative which we could relate to, which we believe will help us create a better music video.

However, the music video is meant for our target audience to relate too, but this does not change our choice of song as sport is a major part of our target audience’s life (15-25). With the capitalist like message of “being the best” ,if you work hard is constantly stated to people of this age, to give them hope. Thus, this song is a sufficient choice within reference to narrative.

Features of the song

It has a very upbeat vibe to it, matching the sport like narrative

Contains musical instruments in the back ground

It could be seen as a very inspirational song.

Could be seen as very cliché

Not a bad thing though, as we target a mainstream audience

The song applies to both sexes.

Contrast of light, which emphasises how it is appealing to all audiences

What can we do to the music video

Mise en scene:To reflect the narrative, we could wear sport clothes. Various colours, to represent that the song appeals to all audiences

Sound: To add to the music video, we could create our own rendition of the mother telling the kid to “get up lazy” to help convey our narrative from the start.

to fulfil all four categories

Cinematography:Because the narrative is easy to relate to. We can try many different shots to emphasise the message of the song. For example various types of shot types and directions of the shot.

Editing: Because the music is high tempo and consumes various musical instruments within the course of the song, it would be sufficient to use editing techniques such as ‘rapid cutting’ or a time laps shot to emphasise progression.
