The PrintedImage AcquiresRunway Marketing

News

TPI have acquired Runway Marketing, marking a new phase in the expansion of The Printed Image to include Below The Line.Runway is a driven Below the

Line marketing agency. The two

companies have combined in a

move that marks an exciting phase

of growth and development for both

businesses. The Printed Image will

act as parent company for Runway,

with the day-to-day running of the

agency remaining unchanged and

headed up by its current Managing

Director, Dee Colgan.

Runway Marketing, founded by

Dee, (formerly of Direction@JWT

and BespokewithDirection) was

set up in 2011 to offer personable

expertise in Below the Line

marketing where passion, creativity,

detail and budget efficiency are

integral to the execution of every

project. This is a strategy that has

worked for Runway in delivering

best in class campaigns for both

domestic and global clients, across

a mix of industries and brands since

its inception. It was this potential

that TPI identified, and with its

network of clients and wealth of

experience, the two businesses

combined are sure to add value

and make a notable impact in the

marketing services industry.

Commenting on the takeover,

Colin Culliton, CEO of TPI said:

“Acquiring a below the line agency

is a natural progression in terms

of developing TPI. We work

with a wide range of consumer

brands on the print & promotional

merchandise side of the business

and identified potential to diversify

and grow by offering our clients the

benefit of BTL expertise. Runway

Marketing are a growing agency

with an excellent reputation and

we are delighted take them to the

next stage through our new working

relationship”.

Dee Colgan, Managing Director

said: “The takeover marks an

exciting phase in the development

of Runway Marketing. To date

our dedication and personable

approach to all projects and clients

has been a key feature in achieving

success. It is this style, but with the

added support of the TPI network

that we will carry forward and

develop. I am immensely proud of

our accomplishments to date and

look forward to the next chapter in

the Runway storybook”.

TPI and Luzozadeget their hands dirtyFour tough teams go head-to-head to compete for the big prize in a series of gruelling challenges

8

The Lucozade Challenge took place

at the Killary Adventure Centre on

Saturday 24th May, as four tough

teams went head-to-head (to-

head-to-head) to compete for the

coveted €10,000 prize in a series of

gruelling challenges.

There was the fear-conquering high

rope challenge, the mind-boggling

problem-solving challenge, the

mud-eating turf warrior assault

course, bog-snorkeling and finally,

the raft-building.

Tiring tasks that the teams

attempted to complete on their way

to ultimate glory challenge, all of

which was branded Luzozade with

the help of The Printed Image.

The Printed Image had a 5am start

on the morning of Saturday the

24th of May, making sure the track

showcased Lucozade’s promotional

materials to its full extent.

Mark Hatty, our head of installation

had this to say;

“We were delighted to be involved

with such an inspiring event.

We could feel the atmosphere and

adrenaline building throughout the

morning and full credit must go to

all participants who were involved”.

TPI and Galaxy-The Perfect Package

10

Mars Ireland were running an event centred on style and fashion, tasking the TPI Premiums division to come up with a high end gift solution. Time for TPI Premiums to put their creative energies to work!!!

This project demonstrated TPI’s

ability to deliver not only single

items but the ability to work with

a client to package a gift that

meets the brand’s aesthetics

and values.

A high end Castelli notebook

was matched to the Galaxy

brand, a rich chocolate colour

cover, to which TPI embossed

the logo on the front in a subtle

and very classy manner. A

branded pencil was included

and also added was a full colour

tip-in page to the front of the

notebook (a great way to add

extra branding without turning

the notebook into an obvious

advertising message).

The box was sourced and

packed with tissue paper to

provide a rich corporate feel.

The elastic on the front of the

notebook held the product

tightly, and finally, when the

whole piece was packed

together, TPI added the finishing

touch of a branded ribbon.

If that wasn’t enough, each

recipient of the box had the

option to indulge in a Galaxy

chocolate bar.

If you have any upcoming

promotional campaigns and

are looking for a creative

merchandise solution then let

TPI Premiums get to work for

you.

Petit FilousMILKSHAKE ME!

Premiums + Design

The Printed Image and Yoplait

worked closely in delivering a

Petit Filous branded bespoke

cup to be used as a milkshake

container. To be working with

such a symbolic brand in Ireland,

delivering a solution from concept

to development was a great

opportunity for The Printed Image.

The broad extent of The Printed

Image’s capabilities were on

show as our design team worked

hand-in-hand with TPI Premiums

in communicating the Petit Filous

message. At the same time, the

sales team sourced a European

supplier of the child sized container.

Ease of merchandising was key,

so the TPI Premiums team worked

closely with the client on their

packaging requirements.

Turnaround on the project was

completed in a record-breaking

three week cycle and The Printed

Image were delighted to be involved

in so many aspects of bringing

the idea from concept to in-store

product.

Now, anyone for a Milkshake???

Demographic, economic and technological shifts are creating an innovative surge by Ruairi Campbell

Within almost every industry

including Marketing and especially

Point of Sale, innovation is key

to sustaining long-run growth for

business.

As a market leader and

manufacturer in branding and point

of sale solutions, more often we are

met with the question of including

innovative digital solutions within

a campaign. The biggest obstacle

we face would be the higher costs

of including digital equipment,

fittings etc. Some clients find it hard

to justify the cost and are worried

about seeing a return on their

investment. This is understandable

given the circumstances of working

within a recovering, yet positively

growing economy.

Nevertheless there has been a huge

surge in innovative eye catching

displays popping up within the

technology industry.

It seems that they are setting the

benchmark for the future, where we

will see a lot more small screens

with informative video, sound on

loop, and interactive tablets where

consumers can get involved with

the brand digitally. This instantly

gives the brand better odds of

converting the curious to impulsive,

leading to purchase.

Recently I made a trip to an

outdoor adventure store with a very

indecisive friend who was trying to

decide which boots he was going

to purchase. I couldn’t help but

notice a Free Standing Display Unit

(FSDU), full of stock of a product

(Buff) that I would normally never

have noticed or paid any attention

to. At the top of the unit was a

screen with a video on loop, where

the company was showcasing the

various different ways that this item

could be worn.

While my indecisive friend was

waiting for the assistant to bring

yet another pair of boots in his size

from the store, this video had now

caught his attention. I said nothing

but I studied his reaction.

Knowing this guy for years, what

happened next was unheard of. He

typically couldn’t make his mind up

in regards to which boots to buy,

so he wanted to ‘go for walk’ and

think about it. He then stood up

walked over to the FSDU display

and took a Buff in the colour that

matched his coat and went straight

to the check out and bought it.

As this happened I spoke with the

slightly frustrated assistant who

was clearing away the many shoes

that my buddy had tried on. I asked

the assistant “did you just see

that?” to which he replied, “I have

no idea how many Buffs that video

has sold!”

With all of this in mind as a

marketing & branding solutions

manufacturer we are already

enjoying, and are set up perfectly

for this digital evolution that

beautifully ties in with the wide

range of POS materials that we are

producing day by day.

can only mean one thing…..

Festival Season is upon us.

clambering for tickets and

camping gear from now until

September.

The line-up for this year’s gigs

have all been announced and with

something for every age/taste

in music, they are sure-fired to

pull in the crowds. From Christy

Moore, Elbow, Robert Plant and

Dolly Parton – Live at the Marquee

in Cork to Sea Sessions with

The Strypes and Leftfield and

of course, everyone’s favourite,

Electric Picnic, showcasing the

likes of Paulo Nutini, Portishead

and Simple Minds, this is set to be

another fantastic year for Festival

goers of Ireland.

Festivals are also a way for big

brands to promote and smaller

brands to get noticed. Here in

TPI we specialise in all your

promotional items for festivals.

From hoarding to banners,

marquees to tasting stands, wrist

bands to branded sun-cream and

ponchos to umbrellas.

If you are hosting a stand at a

festival, why not come and talk

to our Exhibition and Conference

team about how to get your brand

to stand out from all the rest. We

can build from scratch, set-up,

brand it and make it interactive….

If you are interested in promotional

items, TPI Premiums have a

fantastic array of items from can

coolers to sun cream which can

be branded with your logo. What

could be better than seeing a sea

of ponchos with your company

logo staring back at you from the

crowd….(other than sunshine).

Why not reach out to a huge target

audience by having our experts

put together a festival survival

pack for you to send out to clients.

After all, who doesn’t like free

stuff, especially at a festival! :)
