“Great googly moogly …”- Groundskeeper in need of a Snickers

What a Big Week!

First, we conclude Catholic Schools Week with 9:45 a.m. Mass led by our day school students. What a fun week they have had celebrating! Join us for coffee and donuts in the church basement for all of our CURRENT FAMILIES and parishioners following Mass. ALL NEW FAMILIES are invited to come to our OPEN HOUSE in our school immediately following 9:45 a.m. Mass until 1 p.m. Special thanks to Kathryn Moraczewski and our Marketing Committee as well as our School Board, parents, students, and faculty for all of your efforts leading up to today’s OPEN HOUSE. Come and see what makes our school exceptional. Know that a Catholic education at CPOP school is affordable, maybe more affordable than you think, and it is my promise that no child of a registered parishioner will be denied an education at our day school due to financial need. Come and see.

And then, this weekend is Super Bowl LIV, featuring Missouri’s own Kansas City Chiefs! It’s their first time back to a Super Bowl in 50 years! Who else does that sounds like? Here’s a hint: they are the current Stanley Cup Champions! Now I must say that I did not grow up a Chiefs fan, but I am definitely rooting for them. Why? Well, they are from our state, after all. But also because of their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. I was impressed at his attendance at some of the Blues games during their run to the Stanley Cup last spring/summer, as well as at the World Champion USWNT exhibition game at Busch Stadium last May. I tweeted him, basically saying that “if you can support St. Louis, then I can support you and the Chiefs. You’ve got yourself another fan!” So I bought a Mahomes jersey way back in May, and I got to go to my first Chief’s game at Arrowhead back in October. But really, I guess deep down I’ve been a Chiefs fan ever since the 1997 Snickers commercial featuring the groundskeeper accidentally painting CHEFS instead of CHIEFS in the end zone, pictured above. I’ve been calling them the CHEFS lovingly ever since. I’m definitely a fan of

those who can laugh at themselves, who can show a little humility. Anyway, enjoy the community, enjoy the game, enjoy the food of the Super Bowl! GO CHIEFS!

IT’S FINALLY HERE!!! BeLOVED, our 2020 Parish Mission kicks off tomorrow night, Monday, Feb. 3 and goes through Thursday, Feb. 6. Steve Allgeyer will invite us at 7 p.m. each night into a deeper relationship with the Lord, which is truly our heart’s deepest desire. Here’s the plan:

Night 1: Monday: Taken/Chosen * You have been chosen by Christ. Not because of what you do, but because of who you are. He wants to have a relationship with you…what does a relationship with Him look like?

Night 2: Tuesday: Blessed * You have been blessed…By your Baptism you have been called into action. YOU have been indelibly marked as priest, prophet, and king. It is time to get in the game. You have what it takes, now use it.

Night 3: Wednesday: Broken * Night of Reconciliation and Mercy. When we engage, we will fall. What will we do…live in shame or rise up in His mercy. We cannot be sent without experiencing His mercy.

Night 4: Thursday: Given * Who are we being sent to? Who are we to be Jesus for? We cannot hold the good news to ourselves, we must make disciples that fall in love with Jesus. Be the Love you desire to receive to someone else.

SEE YOU THERE!

Finally, I hope to see all of you at the CPOP Trivia Night this coming Saturday, February 8!

Yep, it’s definitely a BIG WEEK here at CPOP! Great googly moogly!

Upcoming Parish Events: THIS Sunday, February 2 - OPEN HOUSE in school for NEW FAMILIES after 9:45 a.m. Mass through 1 p.m. Come and see what makes CPOP School THE choice for your child or grandchild!

What a wonderful celebration of Catholic Schools! Today is our last day for Catholic Schools Week but we can celebrate the great gift of Catholic Schools every day. We are so fortunate at CPOP School to be part of such a great parish who supports us in so many ways. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Two of the national competitions in which CPOP School participates are the Spelling Bee and the Geography Bee. All of our students did a great job of preparing for classroom bees and then on to the school-wide bee. Congratulations to our Spelling Bee champion, Amelia Bequette and our Geography Bee champion, Emily Naunheim! Great things are happening at CPOP School! Mrs. Joanne Hoormann Principal

Protecting God’s Children The Archdiocese of St. Louis has developed a

new system for safe environment compliance

called Prevent and Protect STL. Everyone

ministering (clergy, employees and

volunteers) to minors and vulnerable adults

in the Archdiocese are required and asked

to register in the new system before

December 31, 2020 but we would like to have

this done by the end of the school year. This

includes new volunteers and those who are

currently volunteering. For those who have

already attended a Protecting God’s Children

workshop, your previous training date will

transfer to this new system. In addition to

attending a live Protecting God’s Children

workshop, all clergy, volunteers, and

employees will register for an updated

background screening, view two new online

training modules on abuse reporting and the

Code of Ethical Conduct, and agree to the

updated Code of Ethical Conduct. Please go to

www.preventandprotectstl.org to register.

Passcode: stlprotect

ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST REGISTER OR

WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOLUNTEER.

If you have any questions, please contact Trish

Whitmore, Child Safety Coordinator, @

Our Week Ahead At Christ Prince of Peace

The Parish Prayer Line

The Parish Prayer Line consists of a group of fellow parishioners who will pray for your intentions. If you have need of prayer or would like to join our prayer line, call Rosie at 636-256-9398 or email Connie at [email protected].

Stewardship Reflection “…they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord...” (Luke 2:22)

How seriously do you take being a Catholic? Is “being Catholic” something I just do when I attend Sunday Mass or attend one of my parish functions? It’s easy to be Catholic then, it’s harder to be Catholic when I am out in the world. Would someone recog-nize you as a Catholic by the way you act, dress, and talk? How do you present yourself to the Lord and to others?
