Hello SBPHC! In case you didn't know, Dennis Schnack, our VP, has resigned due to personal reasons. He did tell us that he will be around and is not leaving the club. I would like to send out a BIG THANK YOU to Dennis for all that he has done for the club. He will be missed on the board. Thank you VP! So on that note…in honor of Dennis... SBPHC what time is it?? Time for a team drink! WOO!
The elections are coming up and there are 2 open spots on the executive board, President and Secretary. There are also 4 general board seats open for anybody in the club to run for these positions. As a reminder, you have to serve on the board for 1 year before running for any executive position and be a member in the club for 1 year, in good standing (meaning dues paid up) before you can run for a position. So please really think about this and come and join a great group of friends/club members and help make this great club even better than it is. We love to have new ideas.
Don't forget if you are not getting emails, please get with one of us to make sure we have it down correctly. We have so much coming up, please check Facebook, the website, and the Five O'Clock Update so you don't miss anything.
If you have any questions or comments, please email me.

22ND
SBPHC BIRTHDAY BASH
Get ready to go back to Cool, that’s Summerzcool. We’ll be having classes again at
the Magnuson Hotel in St Pete. We had such a great time we decided to go back.
The dates are June 1-3, 2018. We have a special treat—since this is the weekend
directly after our Social, we‘ve decided to extend the party. We are moving our
social to the Magnuson. So instead of just Friday & Saturday night of awesome fun
we’ll have 3 awesome nights of entertainment.
We are finalizing the music and entertainment lineup and it’s going to just as
awesome as last year. Stay tuned to your emails and Facebook, for registration
dates. Remember, you must be registered for the Party before you can reserve your
hotel. Registration is now open!

the Board for one year prior to the June Elections
SECRETARY: Must be a member in good standing, and must have served on
the Board for one year prior to the June Elections
FOUR GENERAL BOARD SEATS: Must be a member in good standing, and must be a Club Member for a
minimum of one year prior to the June Elections.
Nominations . Please announce your intent to run for the board, by email, to Lucie Przybylowicz at
[email protected]. Enclose a short bio and a picture for the newsletter. Once we receive your
nomination, your bio will appear in the newsletter each month until the election. Nominees will also be
able to post their bio and picture on the club’s Facebook page.
Nominations will close May 12th, at 11:59 PM. Nominations will not be accepted after that time. This will
ensure that all those interested in a Board position will have ample time to appear in the newsletter.
THERE WILL BE NO WRITE-IN NOMINATIONS THE DAY OF THE ELECTIONS.
Voting Requirements:
1. Each member is entitled to one vote and the member must be in good standing with their dues. Dues
must be paid two weeks before the elections to be able to vote.
2. If you will not be at the social in June to vote, you will be able to vote by proxy. A proxy vote is where a
member who cannot vote in person gives permission to another member to use their vote in any way
they choose, OR, the proxy is given instructions on whom to vote for by the member that cannot vote in
person.
SCENARIO 1. Steve can't make the meeting and gives Jim his proxy vote which Jim prints and MUST bring
to the social.
SAMPLE PROXY NOTICE: I, “Steve Parrot Head,” give “Jim Parrot Head” permission to use my vote any

PHellow Parrot Head cruisers, we all know you are really looking forward to this year’s
cruise. As most of you know, we missed last year’s cruise, and the “WOMAN TO
BLAME” this time was called IRMA….She decided to interfere with our plans and wreak
havoc on the state of Florida. We made the most of it and had a hurricane cruise party.
We even had a guest all the way from Calgary Canada. Kevin Waterman of the Calgary
Parrot Head Club had flown in from Calgary on Wednesday to join our group on the
cruise. Well he got a little more than he bargained for when he came. Cruise was can-
celled and he got to ride out a cat 5 hurricane with the cruise group. On the upside, he
has a cool story to tell his friends back home.
This year’s cruise is to Bermuda. It is an 8 day cruise from the Port of Canaveral. The
cruise is scheduled for Sept 21-29, 2018. We have 4 full sea days and an overnight stay in
Bermuda with a stop in Grand Turk. It is on a beautiful ship called the Carnival
Sunshine. She is one of my favorites. As usual we will stay at the Radisson at the port the
night before cruise departs, for ease and convenience of getting to the ship first thing in
the morning. Staying at the Radisson is your choice, not a requirement. We all get
together for dinner that evening, then hang around the pool for a while.
As this is a new port for all of us we are looking forward to new adventures and new sights.
We have a Rum cruise excursion scheduled while onboard, which you may choose to join
if there is still space on the excursion. We also have the cabin crawl and door decorating
contest back at your request. You never know what kind of surprises we have in store for
you. Book early, as prices will rise.

“The White Lei” If you see someone wearing one, that means they are new members to the club.
Welcome them and tell them how much fun they are going to have as a member of the Sarasota Bay Parrot Head Club! Every month I spotlight the new members that I have met at the meetings. Next time you see someone wearing a white lei, ask them to join your group! They all joined to make new friends, clean the environment and have a lot of fun along the way.
LISA & KENNY MACK are from the Philly area. Victor is a friend of theirs, as they both are
nurses at Sarasota Memorial. Their boat was burned on a Memorial Day weekend. They took insurance money and bought a condo in Bradenton. They have since bought a home on Perico Island. They love living there as they are very close to the water and can walk to Anna Maria Island for sunsets.
RON & LORA EMSER are from the Cleveland area. They joined the club in November and
went to the Christmas party. They have traveled in their camper and visited many campgrounds around the country. In each camp ground they have made it a point to have a big Margaritaville party. They are snowbirds who live here from October thru April.
JENNIFER SCOTT & BRIAN McALLISTER are from the Cincinnati area, but have lived in
Florida since about 3…..they said that was a quick 88 years!! They joined the club because they like Buffett music and want to make new friends.
“WHITEY” & MAX WHITE are living on their boat in the Anna Maria Island Area. This is
not new to them, as they have been living on their boat in Belize for over 22 years. They started the first Parrot Head Club outside the U.S., the Parrothead Club of Belize. Their club is hosting a Parrothead Beach Bash in Belize from May 17- 20. Whitey said they would have to live to be 117 to complete of the things on their bucket list.

Ongoing Community Service Projects
Pop Tops/Pull Tabs: Don’t throw them away! Save them all and bring them to the monthly meetings. We collect them and turn them in for cash which is donated to Alzheimer’s Association towards our Memory Walk Fundraising. Just another reason to drink more beer and Party with a Purpose!!! Ink Cartridges: What do you do with your empty ink cartridges? Bring them to the next meeting, we collect these and donate them to local schools that get $3.00 per cartridge for school supplies.
The “Not-Bored” of Directors meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month. If you have any ideas that you would like the board to look
into, please contact any Board Member with your thoughts. Volunteers are always needed. If you are interested in getting more

Night Golf
Saturday, February 17th
It was a beautiful evening for golf, and for a phlocking. The course was in great shape. After meeting up at Suncoast Golf Center and enjoying a pre-golf beer or three, 20 Parrot Heads set out on the course. I had a closest to the pin award and Rich Myles won the award with a shot at 50 1/2 inches to the pin. Great shot Rich! I will be presenting his award and the winning team award at the February social. Thanks to all who came out and played. Also, thank you to Dick and Laura who came out and didn't play but guarded the trophy. Mike Fontaine Golf Director
TOYS FOR TOTS VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER
Our Christmas Party is for the members, for us, and Toys For Tots! We were honored to be invited to the Toys For Tots Appreciation Dinner, it was really great! Funny — when we were called to receive our plaque, we were getting our drinks and dinner and didn't hear Jim call us! He then yelled “Hey! Parrotheads! Come up here!” Lucie and Rich accepted the award on the club’s behalf. All of our charities are fantastic, but there's something about Toys For Tots! Children that are less fortunate receive toys. Pat your-selves on the back - job well done SBPHC!
