THE PARISH SHARE AT SACRED HEARTThe campaign literature you have received explains the parish share goal of the campaign, namely that 15% of paid pledges and gifts will be returned to each parish to accomplish projects or address needs parish leadership has identified. Once a parish exceeds its goal, 85 cents of each dollar raised is then returned to the parish.

SACRED HEART PARISH IS CALLED TO SERVE AS CHRIST

DEBT REDUCTION FROM 4 IN ONE CAMPAIGN: $617,000In 2018, Sacred Heart embarked on the 4 in One Campaign to complete replacement of the church roof and ceiling, upgrades to the lighting, and recladding of the bell tower. Our generous parishioners pledged over $2.24 million, and $1.95 million has been paid to date. However, increased construction and repair costs have left our parish with approximately $617,000 of debt.

Sacred Heart plans to apply its parish share from the Called to Serve as Christ campaign toward eliminating our parish debt. Should our parish raise $725,882 this fall in the Called to Serve as Christ campaign, with 85% being returned to Sacred Heart, we will be able to retire our loan entirely. Without debt payments, we will have additional funds for parish ministries, programs and services!

Sacred Heart intends to apply its parish share toward: “When we all started

out as priests in the era in which I started, our

pay was very small. And likewise for the sisters in our community. In

fact, their pay was very, very small. We went a good, many years

without making a really added provision for our

retirement.

“I think this campaign will help very significantly to

take care of that situation. We don’t stop being

priests. We continue being priests, and so I love the opportunity to still be in

the role as a priest.”
