MASS INTENTIONS for Mar 7-13 2016

Pastor’s Pen By Fr. Luke Ferris

“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” (Luke 15:2) These words are spoken today about Jesus by the

Pharisees and scribes. They are complaining that Jesus is doing the wrong thing by spending time with people who are not righteous, that is, those who are not living the 10 Commandments. Perhaps a modern example of this complaining is the person who says that they come to Mass during the week but not on Sundays because “that’s when the sinners come.” This reaction points us to the elder son in today’s gospel of the Prodigal Son. He has no joy because he is living in the father’s house but not sharing in the father’s heart. The early Christians wrote that the Church is not a haven for saints but rather a hospital for sinners. Our hospital welcomes not only public sinners but also those who harbor resentments and grudges against them. Jesus welcomes all of us to his table of repentance. Gratefully yours,

Fr. Luke

we've increased our books for preschool age children. We

are starting to purchase e-books and subscriptions to

databases as well.
