November was a whirlwind of Activity! One of our trips was to Crafts

Unique Ceramic shop to paint turkeys. We also took a trip to the polls in Orchard Park to vote. It was an honor to recognize the many veterans who

have done so much for all of us on Veteran’s day. Thank you to Mayor Lit-win-Clinton and VFW Post 1417 for making the appreciation so memora-ble. Our culinary team topped off the month with their scrumptious

Thanksgiving Buffet on November 20. Not only was it a great day for eat-

ing but it was for shopping as well as there were various vendors here too.

A letter from the Administrator

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

Happy December everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Buffet. Our

Culinary Department spends weeks in preparation for the day and always pull out all the

stops. They are a great team and we are very lucky to have them.

This holiday season, Orchard Heights will be adopting a Military family as we have in years past. Denise

Siuda, Culinary Director will have the information on the family in need and will gather a “wish list” in the

weeks to come. Please consider a small donation or gift that would allow us to give a deserving family a

wonderful Christmas morning.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Holiday Party on December 5th from 6:30p-8pm. It is always a great

time.

Sincerely,

Colleen Roy, Administrator

Resident of the Month– Agnes Field

Co-worker Worker of the Month-Tony Brunn

We have enjoyed Agnes’ company for over 4 years. You will often see her

walking and she always has a smile for everyone along her way. Her other interests include: Bingo ,Cards and music, She has a great love of children

and loves spending time with her family. Congratulations Agnes!

Tony Brunn has been with us just six months but has had a big impact on

Orchard heights. In fact, residents nominated him last month but being here just 5 months was not eligible. He takes excellent care of the residents

in the dining room and exudes a positive attitude. Thank you for all you do and congratulations!

Resident of the Month-Loretta Curnew

Loretta was voted Resident of the month due to her cheery disposition.

She has been a resident here for the past 5 years. She is very creative and we love her assistance with crafts and decorating the bulletin boards.

Loretta also loves dogs as well as outings movies, gardening and cards. She is a people person and loves visiting with family and friends. Congratula-

tions Loretta!

Just a few Notes From Jim– Resident Council President To welcome December with it’s special days of celebration. Beginning with the Jewish holi-

day, Hanukkah on Dec. 2 for the first day but all Jewish holidays actually start at sun-down on the day before. Dec 7 marks the 77th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor

in 1941. The first day of winter arrives on Dec. 21 just before Christmas day. Kwanzaa is a weeklong celebration of African heritage which runs from Dec. 26– Jan.1. It began in 1966 and Buffalonians began celebrating it in the mid 70’s. The Christmas season runs

until the Epiphany on Jan. 6 with the arrival of the Three Kings. In the month of Decem-ber, a time of parties and celebrations, let’s not forget the real meaning behind the festivi-ties and merry making, a message over two thousand years old announcing “peace on

earth, and goodwill to men, a message the world needs to hear today more than ever be-fore. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Cheers to Kwanzaa and best wishes for a sea-

son of Happy Holidays for everyone!

December Full Moon Known as

the cold moon, the long night moon, or the wolf moon, for Na-

tive Americans it was a symbol of coming full circle. It will be Dec. 22 this year. As we reach

the end of the year and look forward to the be-ginning of a new year, take some time this

month to reflect and appreciate the past year.

What are your hopes for the coming year?

Congratulations to Irene Ayers, Mary Rose

Courtney, Brandon Kozlowski and Sheri White on their recent promotion to Lead Aide! Their

responsibilities will include welcoming new res-idents as well as training new staff. Together

they have over six years of experience providing

excellent care to our residents. WAY TO GO!!!!
