The Colonnade Players present “Songs for a New World”
The Colonnade Players, by special arrangement with Music Theatre Internation-al will bring “Songs for a New World” to The Colon-nade Stage in November. Under the Direction of James Ogden and Musical Direction of Terry Sanford, a cast of 4 men and 4 women will bring the beau-tifully crafted music and lyrics of Jason Robert Brown to life.
This song cycle weaves together stories of every-day people in their search for a new world and a better life. From the open-ing song about the promise of a new life in America (“On the Deck of a Spanish Sailing Ship, 1492) to songs
about love (“I’d Give It All for You”) and death (“Flying Home”), the music and lyrics reveal songs about hopes and dreams, and fears and failures.
The songs reveal hopeful expectations and harsh realities faced in the every-day struggle of discovery, becoming and belonging. The story travels through time and circumstance to portray the hopes, dreams, struggles, failures and triumphs that all light the way to a new world.
Cast members are Haley Blake, Hannah Hale, Eric Jackson, Julianna McKenna, Joseph Watts, Kenya White, Jennifer Wilson and
Jonathan Wilson.
Show dates and times are November 2,3,9 and 10 at 7:30pm and November 4 and 11 at 2:30pm. Ticket prices are for reserved seats with prices ranging from $13 to $17 depending on seating preference. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Box Office at 706-935-9000 are going online to colonnade-center.org.
“Songs for a New World” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. All performance materials are also supplied by MTI. (www.MTIShows.com).
