OPEN FESTIVAL IN THE DIGITAL ERA The Nordic Creative Commons Film Festival is the first Nordic festival for the open film industry.
Between 30 Aug – 8 Sept 2013, local hosts throughout the Nordic region will screen the most outstanding and pioneering films from all over the world. The festival concept is based on participation and transparency, where the audience becomes the official organizers.
The festival’s official venues in Stockholm, Copenha-gen and Helsinki are the meeting places to link the film industry with filmmakers and the audience, opening up a debate about copyright licenses and funding in the digital era.
CC-LICENSED CULTURE The digital revolution has created new ways to distribute and screen movies. Creative commons provides legal tools for creators who want to distribute their work digitally. The use of Creative commons licenses has increased dramatically the last years, which make it possible to arrange legal screenings.
Over 50 CC- licensed works under the categories short films, documentary, feature films and others will meet the audience and compete for the festival’s prizes. For the first time films under open licenses will be displayed in cinemas. Local hosts will arrange screenings at home and in unexpected places throughout the Nordic region.
The festival wants to support creative projects and to give the filmmakers recognition and a voice in the public space. The concept also aims to link the film industry with filmmakers and the audience.

From Aug 30th til Sept 8th. 2013, over 50 unique screenings will be arranged. The Festival concept is based on participation and transparency, where the audience becomes the official organizers with a website as connecting node.
A Nordic network of local ambassadors and organizers will create temporary cinemas at their homes and in other unexpected places. Anyone with an audience of at least 5 people and technical equipment for screening can become a “festival host”.
The festival’s official venues will be located in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen where public screenings and seminars will be arranged.
