The Middle Way Methodhe Middle Way Method is the synthesis of top down planning, andbottom up productivity. I remember in college learning about the

enlightenment of the Buddha. I learned from his experience that solutiondo not necessarily come in the form of either or, butsomewhere in the middle. With this inspiration in mind Iexamined top down and bottom up planning systems; andlooked for where they met in the middle.

TThe top down methods of planning excel in helping peopleconnect with who they are, and who they want to becomeThe weakness of a top down system is that they fall apart

on the daily grind of work and life.

The bottom up methods of productivity work great at moving the stuff to do intoan efficient work flow, but do not help us to become better people.

I designed the Middle Way Method to include introspection. If improvement is your goal, then introspection is an essential element. I found that introspectionis not fully developed in either form of planning.

I view the Middle Way Method as a series of processes, you can follow them all i

order, or choose the ones which work for you. One benefit is that you canprefect your implementation of each process before moving on to the next. Theprocesses are:

1. Creating and maintaining mission and vision statements

2. Setting and achieving goals

3. Journal keeping with an eye to introspection

4. Capturing data and information

5. The weekly review

6. The daily review

7. Creating your own custom system
