The Lone Star Historical Miniatures (LSHM). We promote miniatures wargaming in primarily historical periods but also fantasy/sci-fi. We are not dedicated to one rule set or scale. We promote miniatures wargaming by running events, helping local conventions, and assisting with tournaments, financial backing and run demo games. We will also run gaming classes at schools. We encourage all gamers to be a part of our group to help support our common hobby.

Flames of War tournamentBy Ian Straus
At the 2018 late-war Flames of War San Antonio tournament
(FoWSA13), we had eight competitors evenly divided between axis and
allies. Dominating all three rounds was Jacob Mayer and his Soviet list
with a horde of lend-lease M3 tanks.
At the end of three rounds the ranking was:
Jacob Mayer - Best general
Nathaniel Lisanti - Best ally
Justin Baeza - Best Axis

Expect the 2019 early-war FoWSA to be in the early part of the year,
date to be announced.

Arab-Israeli WarBy Chris Lisanti
Fate of a Nation Update--Tony (Egyptian T-54 Battalion) took on Chris and Rob (Israeli Sherman Company) in the Free For All mission.
The Egyptians exacted Israeli tank casualties with only some bailed out Egyptian T-54s to show for the Israeli fire. The Israeli mechanized platoon were truly the stars and marched forward through the village rallying each time they were pinned and making awesome infantry saves.
A Sherman platoon aiding in putting withering fire on the Egyptian infantry who eventually died to the man defending the objective.
The Egyptians attempted to tank assault an Israeli objective that was defended by a 155 battery, but the tanks were thrown back by defensive fire. Next week a trip back to the jungles of 'Nam.

Alright folks. Time for another Marian Roman army building report. This week, 1/2 of cohorts 1-4 (first rank of 2 Hail Caesar units) were finished with their training and are now conducting camp security and limited anti-raiding operations... while the other half of these cohorts have now assembled and beginning training in camp... also started building their opponents. Put together about 100 Gauls/Galatians and 24 phalangites this week. We'll see where I can get on a short week this week.

Regimental Fire & FuryAmerican Civil WarBy Charlie Torok
Regimental Fire&Fury: American Civil War in 28mmIt finally happened, Rob - Rick - and I played our first game of 28mm ACW on Friday night (my 2018 project).
Rob commanded his Confederate brigade (Anderson's Brigade out of Hoods Division from Gettysburg)
while Charlie (3rd Brigade, 3rd Division, VI Corps - Sedgwick's command) and Rick (1st Brigade, 1st Division) attacked his well defended position.
As agreed it was a "Gentlemen's Game" to learn the mechanics and get the sequence down so no winner or loser. All three of us enjoyed the game and look forward to playing more ACW Fire & Fury.
We had a great night of moving lead and rolling dice. We plan to play a lot more as time goes on.
I also plan to field my Mexican-American war (my 2017 project) using M-A Fire&Fury supplement.
Figures are Old Glory and Sash&Saber 28mm.

Late War battle reportSan Antonio,TexasBy Chris Lisanti
Late War FOW battle report. Tony (US armor and infantry) took on Rob/Chris (StuG Batterie) in the Free For All mission.
It was a yin-yang battle with Tony's infantry pushing towards the German left objective and the Germans pushing with pioneers against the American left objective.
The Americans fared better reaching the objective and launching an assault that eventually was repulsed but with significant casualties to the Begleit unit that was defending it with a StuG platoon in support.
Meanwhile the pioneers decided to not rally on two separate turns, suffer a few casualties under good American artillery, and only be able to throw a little flame on a bazooka team without any effect on the last turn.
The German panzerwerfers were entirely ineffective the whole game in spite of constant repeat bombardments.
No clear winner although the Germans were inflicting some casualties on the Shermans before it was called for time.
Late war FOWSA tournament Saturday at Dragon's Lair. Arab-Israeli next week at Multiverse.

2019 Game ProjectsCharlie Torok: This year I decided to go back to my gaming roots and paint Napoleonics. This was the first gaming period I collected way back in the early 1980’s. I already have a good size collection of 28mm, but now plan to add to it by building a French (and others) 28mm Napoleonic Army. French Ligne battalion and Legre battalion

We probably bit off more than we can chew by doing a 6 BDE (3v3) to start. 1 and 2nd BDE of the 4th Infantry Division II Corps drove the Austrians off the field while the Duchy of Warsaw was unable to break the traitor Saxons. Vive La France
