Their favourite type of media they saw which hadbeen created for The Living Book is the ‘booktrailer’; like a movie trailer but for a book instead.

They were impressed with examples ofanimations and videos they saw from anotherschool and all said that they will use this in class.

7. Augmenting the readingexperience with TheLIVING LIBRARY

The Living Library is an onlineplatform with a collection of book titles, suggested by educators from around Europe.Within each book title children can add mediawhich they have created, based on that book. The media could be a video recreation of ascene, an audio retelling or critique of the book,stop-motion animation, user-created imagesinspired by the book, a Scratch coded animationor game, a 3D model of an artefact or scene in abook, or almost any type of media that pupilsand teachers can think of!

The Living Library is also social! Users can become friends, create readinggroups, events, post updates, send messagesand more. Members will be updated in theirprofile when other members post comments totheir content and they can follow any of theirfavourite book titles in the Library to see whatother users are posting.

The ability to create online readinggroups is one of the unique features ofthe platform. Teachers can create privatereading groups for their pupils, using the socialplatform to interact, share and comment on thebook they are reading together. Or memberscan create public reading groups to allowanybody who is reading that book to join thegroup and share their experience.

We are excited to offer this feature to theeducation community and look forward to pupilsand schools from across Europe interacting withtheir experiences of popular books.

The platform is available in 6languages – English, Italian, Greek,Romanian, Portuguese and Estonian. Each language version has its own library of

book titles. So users can search for and addcontent in their own language, or the platformcould also be used in language lessons byviewing, sharing and creating content in otherlanguages. Many book titles are available inmore than one language. On the book title pageyou can see the other language versionsavailable and click to see the content thatmembers are posting in each of the otherlanguages.

The Living Library is not only a hub for creatingand sharing media content from a book it is alsothe home for the other resources produced bythe project:- Lesson Plans- E-learning- Toolkits- Publications
