From Langley’s Head of SchoolWelcome to Summer Studio 2016! This year promises to be yet another wonderful summer of fun here at The Langley School. An extension of our school year, Langley’s summer program builds on our mission to educate preschool through eighth grade students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Each year, we are hard at work searching for new opportunities and expanding upon the favorites, and this year is no exception. Innovative academic and STEM programs engage campers with 21st century art, high-tech design, and app development. Campers become field scientists who investigate the Chesapeake Bay and local tributaries, locavores who create amazing meals using local produce, and actors who bring characters to life. The spotlight also shines on experiences that get campers moving with a University of North Carolina 2009 national basketball champion or the lead choreographer and dancer for MC Hammer.

Our wide variety of programs offer opportunities for personal, social, and intellectual growth for each camper. We take full advantage of The Langley School’s spacious campus which includes a wooded nature area, arts center, computer labs, athletic center, artificial turf field, age-appropriate playgrounds, and more. We look forward to seeing you this summer!

-Dr. Elinor Scully, Head of The Langley School

Mission & PhilosophyThe Langley School believes that each child’s potential is boundless and every child can act with integrity, gener-osity, and consideration for others. We reach across multiple disciplines to discover, amplify, and embrace the tal-ents of every child, every day. By nurturing, supporting, and academically challenging our students, our inclusive community builds quietly confident, independent thinkers who flourish as learners and individuals.

Summer Studio is an extension of The Langley School. We build on the mission of the school by providing every child with an opportunity to explore and discover his or her individual talents through a variety of classes and experiences. This intimate and inclusive environment continues to encourage children to challenge themselves academically, artistically, and physically throughout the summer.

Families choosing to participate are contacted one week prior to their start at camp to confirm the exact location of the cluster stop as well as drop-off or pick-up times. In the event of your child’s illness or absence, please notify the Summer Studio Office as soon as possible. There is no refund for cancella-tions or absences on the bus.

If no adult is present at the drop-off location to receive the camper, he or she will be brought back to The Langley School at the completion of the route. For mid-day busing, the camper will wait in the Summer Studio Office until pick-up. For afternoon busing, he or she will join Extend the Fun. In both cases, parents/guardians will be charged the extended care drop-in fee of $18 per day.
